This morning, around 2:20 AM, a new #Kilauea eruption began within Kaluapele (the summit caldera). It was caught on camera by #HVO's B2cam. Images taken by the webcam were compiled into this timelapse video that shows lava fountains feeding lava flows across the caldera floor.

A likely X-Flare was just detected off the northeast limb peaking at 07:42 UTC (Nov 25). Although the solar X-Rays reached M9.4, the event was possibly stronger due to the source region not yet being in view. We will get a better look at the source during the next 24-48 hours. Stay tuned!

Following NASA’s SpaceX Crew-8 mission’s safe splashdown and recovery off Florida’s coast early Friday morning, NASA astronauts Matthew Dominick, Michael Barratt, and Jeanette Epps, and Roscosmos cosmonaut Alexander Grebenkin were taken to a local medical facility for additional evaluation. The crew exited the Dragon spacecraft onto a recovery ship for standard post-flight medical evaluations. Out of an abundance of caution, all crew members were flown to the facility together. NASA will provide additional information as it becomes available.
