Wife, mum of 4 & nonna of 9, Retired Deputy Principal, Investor, Trader & farmer. I’m positive youth & innovation will solve many issues we angst about now.
@Bigly20 That article says nothing about farmers being furious. I’m a farmer & in my area, large scale wind & solar farms have been erected at the huge cost of destroying prime agricultural land. Farmers are furious & heartbroken as anyone would be with that in their backyard.
@strangerous10 He didn’t give Yemini a platform. He was baled up & like many was offended by Grace Tame’s, “from Gadigal to Gaza, globalise the intifada” so said her employment was problematic. Tame was not a victim of DV. She was a 15 year old child insidiously groomed & raped by her teacher.
@williammaley1@SaiKate108 And you should remember there were consequences. She was arrested and the Olympic committee gave her a 10 year ban, effectively ending her Olympic career. She was later gifted that flag by the Japanese Emperor. Her intention was not to desecrate the flag but souvenir it.
@msconniegrace@Walt_Wisely@EM_RESUS I’m so sorry. It nearly killed me too and in fact that would have been preferable to living. My third decompression by a controversial neurosurgeon saved me.
@trandel@GrogsGamut Because it’s the only way they could afford to buy a farm. In the past farmers relied on selling the farm to fund their retirement. Farmers are not villains. They acted within the law. And even though the value of their farms has increased their income hasn’t.
@hughriminton Airing their grievances publicly was stupid for the Libs and Nats. People dying in floods is a tragedy. A journalist casting jibes does not help those grieving families- in fact she makes their grief even more difficult. Not all support has to be in the public domain.
@CliveWa74272726@3AWNeilMitchell@Ruleslawyer01 Yep. It was called provisional tax and is easily adjusted. Tax on unrealised gains is totally different. Some people have their business or farm in Super and it will mean they may have to sell their business to pay this tax. Unfair, unprofessional and unproductive. Stupid.
@TMFScottP I find it so irritating. Friedman v Marx. We are starting down the road of the latter. It’s just populist election rubbish. Meanwhile real economic reform goes begging.
@michaelsnape@JohnGri42042715 Again why pay tax on money that has already been taxed? The earnings in Super are taxed in accumulation phase. The tax incentives were designed to encourage people to self fund their retirement. If this couple were on the aged pension they would cost the tax payer $45000/year.
@michaelsnape@JohnGri42042715 Because Super is a vehicle which holds forced savings. Their pension is a withdrawal of money that has already been taxed- Super contributions are taxed. I doubt you would be happy to pay tax on money you withdraw from the bank.
@Filapek I’m don’t reckon actual life is full of them. But I do think X & other social media gives these nasty, ignorant imbeciles a voice and they love pestering people, arguing with professionals like yourself & spruiking their own personal conspiracy theories. Blocking is your friend.
@Bunjo76@AusCommenter I was a new investor back then and am pleased I bought banks during the GFC. Followed the same theory during Covid. This is such an ignorant beat up.
@AusCommenter You can have a go at Dutton for many things but buying bank shares at the bottom of the market is not one of them. Many investors were buying banks shares then. Just checked and I bought heaps on 23/2/08. Buying good quality shares does not require “insider knowledge.”
@TMFScottP@Cracked_Canoe Interesting. This would catch investors who flip properties. I just used indexing on a coastal property I’ve held for 20 years and the CGT is roughly the same as the 50% discount.
