Lawfare explodes.

But relax, citizen. Totally unrelated.

Just a bunch of random little oopsies committed by the same institutions, protecting the same class of people, targeting the same political enemy, and somehow always landing in the same direction.

What are the odds?

Apparently in Washington, if one scandal points toward the establishment, it’s “complicated.” If ten scandals point toward the establishment, it’s “conspiracy theory.” And if twenty scandals start forming a recognizable pattern, the media hires six former FBI officials to explain why noticing patterns is dangerous to democracy.

That’s why the Joe DiGenova angle matters.

The swamp survived outrage. It survived hearings. It survived sternly worded letters from Republicans who then went to brunch.

What it may not survive is somebody breaking the giant mess into smaller cases, specific acts, actual witnesses, real documents, grand juries, and charges.

Because maybe Benghazi, FISA, Russiagate, lawfare, leaks, selective prosecution, and institutional cover-ups were all separate.

Sure.

And maybe the casino keeps accidentally winning because the house is just really, really lucky.
