Kevin Manthei, Composer of Invader Zim, Reunites with Season 1 Lead Character Designer John Fountain to Score Theme Music for His New Indie Cartoon Pilot “Battle Beetle”
Acclaimed composer Kevin Manthei, who created the score for the beloved animated series Invader Zim, has signed on to write the theme music for John Fountain’s new indie cartoon pilot Battle Beetle, set for early 2027 release.
The project marks a reunion with John Fountain, Invader Zim Season 1 lead character designer and creator of the new series. Battle Beetle follows a young nomadic warrior battling the evil wizard Death Head the Moth alongside transforming insect heroes in the world of Insectopia.
“We’re thrilled to have Kevin Manthei bringing his signature sound to Battle Beetle,” said John Fountain. “His dynamic style perfectly matches our high-energy bug-battling adventure.”
The pilot promises over-the-top action, humor, and heart in the classic cartoon tradition.
