The single most significant trend of our time is the dumbing down we’re all seeing. It can be reversed but it will take a collective effort. Replace scrolling with reading. Let your kids know boredom. Read poetry. Study history. You have to cultivate an enthusiasm for knowledge.

I just like peace and quiet. Feel like the entire world is now devoted to being noisy, intrusive and worrying. My confession is that I got rid of my iPhone and now rely on my wife to do all online communication. I have a brick phone for texting and calling. Fucking bliss.
No need at all for @BBCNews to show clips and photos from cat torture videos on the news today - there are ways to talk about this distressing topic without being seconds or less from showing the violence itself. Very distressing.

Horrendous but not surprising. The same happened to my mum - 4 months of gynae/urology arguing over whose responsibility she was and then she was diagnosed with terminal, secondary adenocarcinoma (never diagnosed with a primary) and she passed 18 months later at the age of 48.
