Endemic doesn't mean "good." It just means "now we're stuck with it."
Just sit there and stew in that for a minute: "an endemic disease associated with long-term neurological sequelae."
You can ignore it, but it doesn't give a shit what you think! You're just an incubator.

I learned how people react to disasters, because every single homeless person has gone through their own tiny, personal apocalypse that got them where they are. (Almost no one is on the street by choice, that's utter horseshit that lying right wing morons make up.)
I cannot stress enough how your children are depending on you to not be weird.
Seriously, you are a dad. Every morning you should be looking yourself in the mirror and saying to yourself: “I need to not be weird, for my children”
I came across something I wrote some years back, and I think it is relevant to the "Man or Bear?" conversation. So, a thread, but first some observations:
When a woman is in an abusive relationship, what's the first thing people say?
"Why doesn't she just leave?"
Ok, she agreed to perform for everyone but has requested that I note: she did not reach top speed in this video.
[Video description: pretty much what is described in the first tweet with me cheering her on]
@Isobel_waby@elliemidds It’s the concept of being “visibly” disabled (using walking aids, wheelchairs, etc) vs the “non visibly” disabled (in my case, I’m both a diabetic and have permanent vertigo bc my vestibular system is destroyed).
People think if they can’t see it then it doesn’t exist.
“What did you do to provoke the abuse?”
A few examples from my life:
- Bought the wrong bread
- Smiled at a waiter
- Got stuck in traffic
- Got sick with a fever
- Sold a play
- Dressed up for an event he asked me to dress up for
- Made a nice dinner (accused of being “in love” with our guests)
- Ordered takeout (accused of “not wanting to impress our guests”)
- Chatted to an actor at a festival
- Failed to chat to a producer at a festival
- Lost weight
- Cut myself on a knife in a restaurant
- Took a phone call from my brother on my birthday
- Slipped on some ice
Abusers are controlling and irrational, FFS
Stop placing responsibility for their insanity on the people they hurt.
My toddler ate a huge plate of broccoli and chicken and rice tonight because I've never forced him to eat anything. And there have been tons of times where those items go completely untouched and I'm like "ok whatever, try it next time". Stay mad haters!
It's cruel to not offer a child a meal they like when they do not like what everyone else is having for dinner. I don't get this concept of needing to force a child to eat something they don't like when as adults we don't do this to ourselves.
@JFrankensteiner Stevie Nicks (and the rest of Fleetwood Mac) enter the chat.
That shit was cold, they wrote bitter, angry songs about each other and then made one another sing them on stage every night 😬
