@elvenmaidinn It's your group and you guys can play it how you want obviously, just decisions like that reek of adversarial DMing, and I personally wouldn't want to play with someone like that.
@elvenmaidinn Cobwebs would flash burn too quickly. They odds of them setting a building on fire are extremely low. If there were piles of oily rags, or leaky cases of high proof alcohol then maybe.
@elvenmaidinn Did they state they were trying to torch the whole building? If you are just trying to burn the webs, a nat 20 means you should succeed at that incredibly well. Burning the town down is a nat 1 outcome.
@DataSucks@RpsAgainstTrump I think you are here illegally and should be immediately deported. If there is no due process how do you stop it from happening? That's the whole point of due process. It's in the constitution and says no person, not just no citizen
@YoDanno One of the Space Quest ones had a fairly awful one also. Walking puzzles and having to guess what things were called were the worst parts of those early games. Still wouldn't trade them for the world. Sierra and LucasArts are some of my core memories
@redwyrmofficial True, but I can also imagine a wizard in a tough battle frantically culling his spell book to make the most of this spell. Maybe add that if there aren't at least 10 spells in the book the energy of the spell detonates the book.
@WizardsRespite If you are looking to play with kids and you are more into the gaming part then it being military, check out Necromolds. You have limited clay. You use spellbook molds to form your units, and you get to smush the other persons units with a special ring when you kill them.
@memeslich Depends on a lot of things, it can be a good mechanic to balance giving otherwise op items out, but it shouldn't be for every item, unless there is some baked in lore reason in the setting why magic item always have something that sucks about them.
