Why announce it? Why assume Kurdish forces would join after being abandoned in Syria?
Turkey won’t just watch, peace process or not. And Kurdish groups in Iran don’t have the capacity to seriously threaten Tehran.

1. The ones who are justifying Ahmad Al Sharaa’s forces massacring the Kurds after doing the same against Alawites and the Druze. They will defend anything he does. It’s gross.

2. The ones who are horrified a former senior leader in Al Qaeda is leading massacres against a minority group AFTER spending years cheering for collapsing Syria into the hands of extremists. These people baffle me the most. What did you think would happen?

What has been done to non-Muslims in Syria is a moral failure — and the destructive role played by Tom Barrack, U.S. envoy to Turkey and Syria, cannot be ignored.

@BlalMouaz @ragipsoylu Sheikh Maqsod was different. Violence remained limited compared to the coast/south, though terrible incidents occurred. In NE Syria, the STG will face stronger resistance, suffer heavier losses, and the conflict is expected to be far more violent. Civilans are terrified & armed.

An offensive on Hassakeh is imminent. According to current information, the STG has demanded more than what was agreed yesterday, although this has yet to be confirmed

Denying this ignores the observable reality. If the STG advances into Kurdish regions, it will inevitably lead to large-scale bloodshed.

@VolunteerReport @Suriyakmaps The border with Turkey is closed and will remain so. The Kurds in Iraq are unable to respond, at most they can provide refuge for fleeing civilians without provoking Turkish intervention. The situation is dire, and we can expect horrific scenes, no matter what happens.

I spoke to two contacts from Kobane. One is inside the city now. One is in Jazira but has family remaining there. Both say the STG advance is traumatizing locals. It reminds Kurds of ISIS in 2014: "First there was a siege, and then there was a terrible attack."

@NotWoofers This is all part of a political game. His statements are meaningless. He keeps repeating the same points while the STG has already taken over large parts of the territory. He should not be given any attention. The US is merely watching, clearly the result of a deal.
