Excited to announce that DARPA has awarded Apollo $2.4 million to support the Quantum Benchmarking Initiative (QBI) Independent Verification & Validation (IV&V) effort. We are currently hiring in fault-tolerant algorithms, compilation, and error correction.
@Heatherc_77 The timestamps on page 20 of that document indicate that Grijalva did not post 222520257. His records showed up because he wrote the three other posts referenced on page 3.
@jrkelly Boston is a big hub for the quantum computing industry. Quera, Atlantic (now part of Google), Apollo, Zapata, and Aliro are all based here. And many others have satellite offices in the area.
@ShawnKwon11 DARPA announced that Quera and Google were selected for Stage A in April and September. Google announced in October that they acquired Atlantic.
@MartinShkreli It began in October after IonQ announced a big AFRL deal. And spread when QCi announced a sale in mid-November. I think the Amazon announcement was basically irrelevant.
@nick_farina Are you talking about the number of companies? There's probably at least 20 doing serious work on qc hardware, which to me seems pretty competitive.
@dallairedemers@SPVLABS@MartinShkreli @MANGBUMANG Ah no I think it needs to be much longer. If you want to run a 1 hour calculation on 38k cat qubits using codes that only correct phase, you need a bit flip coherence time on the order of 38k hours.
@dallairedemers@SPVLABS@MartinShkreli @MANGBUMANG Ok yeah this seems to confirm that the resource estimates assume a physical bit flip rate that is much lower than the 1e-8 you stated earlier.
@dallairedemers@SPVLABS@MartinShkreli @MANGBUMANG Yeah you guys should clarify the required physical flip rate. The expression is for LDPC, it's on p. 4 of Ruiz. And the last section of that paper says they assume a mean photon number of 21, which I think corresponds to a physical bit flip rate that's much smaller than 1e-8.
@dallairedemers@SPVLABS@MartinShkreli @MANGBUMANG The Ruiz paper says the logical bit flip rate per cycle for a logical qubit is n/k x [physical bit flip rate]. n/k=18 and a physical rate of 1e-8 gives 1.8e-7. Tables 3-5 of the Pauli group paper show the total spacetime volume is >1e12. So it seems like 1e-8 is too high?
@Ryan_G_Lambert@maggistratus I did salsa and bachata for a number of years, also swing and tango. Nowadays I'm more into shuffling and only do salsa from time to time.
@Ryan_G_Lambert@maggistratus This is like saying if you start running facebook ads, your startup will become profitable. Sure maybe facebook ads are a good idea in many cases. But most of the time, getting to profitability requires a lot more than just picking up a new top of funnel tactic.
This week's filings show that Zapata has undergone a financial restructuring. Under CEO Sumit Kapur, the company converted $10 million of liabilities to equity and raised $2.65 million. Of this, $1.34 million was used to pay off a portion of the remaining liabilities.
