@ThePosieParker I never imagined I would be middle-aged and living through a Cultural Revolution of the West. I was promised jetpacks and flying cars, and instead I get they/thems and public servant unions blocking women for wrongthink.
@d78930305@SVPhillimore This is an interesting comment. In any other circumstance, would plastic surgery trigger falsifying identification? Because, who someone SAYS they are and who they ARE is the difference. A man does not become a woman because he had cosmetic surgery.
ID is about who they ARE.
@Wopindahood@BaggieBirdd66@DreyfusJames Why are you asking me? Do you think I can speak for other people? I described my experience of watching my elders die around me, and you somehow need this to be about the trans community?
Trans people weren't there in numbers. It was gays and lesbians.
@elegationvain@SVPhillimore@Alonso_GD women are a monolith, or that the boundaries of those who do say no should be ignored, in favor of the women who say yes.
@elegationvain@SVPhillimore@Alonso_GD I'm not suggesting all women say no. Not at all. I don't do mind-reading and attribution of motive (Unless I'm trying to be funny, which in this case, I'm not.)
While I understand that women tend to be more sympathetic to trans rights, it should not be suggested that 1/2
@BaggieBirdd66@DreyfusJames Right? It was everywhere, all the time. I lived in Los Angeles, and I just saw people die left and right. Beautiful, creative, joyful men...just gone. One after the other. To me, that's what the 80s was as a gay kid.
@K8T1144 I mean, I'd like to kick Judith Butler's work into the sun as much the next guy, but I don't under any circumstances think she's SOLELY responsible for this. In fact, most people who reference her couldn't read her "writing" on their best day.
@SVPhillimore@Alonso_GD This is a great question. I'm also interested in the answer, please.
Because, when I grew up, people made sure I understood the phrase "no means no". Or "No. is a complete sentence". So, tell me, what has changed that women's stated boundaries are unreasonable?
@Smeaglez2lj Let me speak slowly. Medicine is not all one thing. Someone prescribing evidence-based meds, that have been laboratory tested for efficacy is NOT the same thing as a failed medical experiment. Those are not the same category. One does not follow from the other.
@Smeaglez2lj So, you're saying that the tools you use, talking and interviews were decidedly NOT used at the time, and that nobody in your field has ever touched lobotomy? That's very convenient, isn't it?
