Congresswoman Nancy Mace secured a significant legal victory with the successful removal of her civil case from state to federal court, affirming the constitutional protections afforded under the First Amendment, political speech, and Constitutional protections for federal legislators under the Speech or Debate Clause and federal supremacy, et al.

Congresswoman Mace represented herself on the matter.

“Someone who stands up for herself in this way will always stand up in this way for her constituents,” Rep. Mace said. “It’s about standing up for your First Amendment rights, the Constitution, and standing against powerful people and powerful interests who think they can abuse the legal system to destroy anyone they want. South Carolinians deserve leaders who won’t back down. I didn’t, and never will.”

Today, I stood in front of a judge representing myself, and won.

A South Carolina state court attempted to silence a sitting Member of Congress with an unconstitutional and unenforceable gag order for doing my job and speaking out. Instead of backing down, I pushed back. I successfully moved this case to federal court, where constitutional questions belong.

Opposing counsel even suggested I should be jailed for tweeting about injustice. This is not the rule of law, it’s lawfare. And it failed.

The First Amendment, the Speech or Debate Clause, and federal supremacy protections exist for moments exactly like this, to prevent intimidation, harassment, and abuse of the legal system to silence elected representatives and the people they serve.

I took on the establishment alone and prevailed because the Constitution is clear. Free speech is not a crime. Free speech is protected. And no court should ever be weaponized to shut it down.

I will continue fighting this case in federal court, standing up for my constituents, and defending the truth, no matter how powerful the interests are that want it buried.

I yield to no one who seeks to silence the truth. 🇺🇸

A quick civics lesson for those who missed it:

The Constitution explicitly protects members of Congress from being arrested for doing their jobs - legislating and explaining their legislation. It's in Article I. The Speech or Debate Clause.

So, naturally, I sent out pocket Constitutions, free of charge. Some folks clearly need one.

To those who think they can have some judge arrest me for doing my job, think again. Look forward to discussing The Constitution, and how it works, in court.
