I write a lot about how tech and algorithms influence our personalities and culture.

@On3@AndyStaples Miami & ND scheduling 11 wins and then 1 game against each other, so who really knows if they’re any good.
Should be punished for those schedules
CFB Week 4 Roundup
• Texas A&M wanted nothing to do with Kentucky in the second half. Wildcats physically dominated
• Kamario Taylor is an emerging star
• Shane Beimer's seat is HOT
• Duce Robinson is a DUDE. Seminole defense gave up 50 points...not going to win many games
• Trinidad Chambliss is the most electric player in the county
• NC State...I'm sorry
• Big Ten is so top heavy the weekly schedule is a snooze
• Lincoln Keinholz can take Louisville to the ACC Championship
• Florida looks good. Too many penalties and bad timeout management, will burn them later this year if not cleaned up
• Is Northwestern frisky or is the gap between the Big 12 and bottom tier Big 10 teams that big?
@ClayTravis Big Ten slate is terrible next week (and was terrible yesterday).
We used to make fun of the SEC for being a "top heavy" league. Look at us now!
4 Reasons Waking Up Before 5AM Will Change Your Life
Declaring yourself a “night owl” or deliberately chasing a few extra Z’s in the morning is the worst mistake you can make if you work a 9-5.
This year I was tired of missing workouts because I was at the office late or exhausted from a full day's work. I started waking up at 4:45AM and it changed everything.
Here’s 4 reasons it will change your life too.
1. Never Miss A Workout
We’ve all been there: You sit at your desk for 8 hours, your brain is totally fried from a full day of productivity, and the last thing you want to do is go exercise.
Why not front-load your day?
Going to an empty gym before the sun comes up provides a rush and sense of accomplishment unmatched by evening workouts. No more waiting for machines or working in with people.
Walking out to the sunrise will change your perspective on how you’ve been managing your time.
2. Finding Time For Your Interests
You just crushed a workout, and you still have over 2 hours until your day “officially” starts.
One of the reasons hobbies are dying is work for many is 24/7 and all consuming. When you’re awake and active at 5AM you have no manager, clients, or subordinates reaching out to you. This is the perfect time to read, work on a project, learn something, whatever it is you like.
Grab some caffeine and get to work!
3. First In The Office
An unspoken competition in every work environment is time of arrival.
Some always want to be first, some don’t pay it any mind. YOU should be paying it mind. Showing up early will:
• Earn the respect of your colleagues
• Complete your day faster
• Take control of your day, not the other way around
This is the easiest way to level up your career.
4. Happiness
One of the keys to living a happy life is finding satisfaction.
The problem is satisfaction cannot be achieved by doing easy things. It’s only in struggle that you find satisfaction. Waking up early, exercising, working on your passions, and crushing it at work are all hard things to accomplish in one day. Which is exactly why it’s satisfying.
The unhappiest people you know wake up groggy, go to the office, go home and doomscroll until bed. That’s not the recipe for a fulfilling life.
I paid $100 for a single team package on MLBTV to watch the Detroit Tigers this year. ~$1.62 per game.
Sunday Ticket is $378. 9 of the Lions' games are not nationally televised this year, or $42 per game.
The pricing power of the NFL is 1 of a kind.
Reading this article has become an annual tradition for me on 9/11.
The simple, unremarkable story of what 9/11 did to a family haunts and infuriates me because of its senselessness.
Read this and remember it every day. There are people in this country who think America "deserved" 9/11 and would cheer another attack like it.

@nicopico5@themoviedadsc I'm not saying people shouldn't save for retirement.
I'm just pointing out looking at 2059 dollars with the value of 2026 dollars doesn't provide a real insight into how much your account will be worth
@themoviedadsc Yep—doing everything I can to max my retirement savings.
Unfortunately Americans as a whole are pretty poor at planning and saving for retirement.
