“What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make.” -Dr Jane Goodall / Nature, Regeneration, Earth, Life 🌎🌱🌳
In 2009, @neilwallis1 and I were heavily involved in the crisis management for Professor Phil Jones and his Climatic Research Unit during ‘Climategate’. BBC/Vox Pictures have made a brilliant film with stellar cast @JasonWatkins, Victoria Hamilton, George MacKay and @JeromeFlynn
The Trick is on BBC1 at 8.30pm, a week today,18th October. And can be streamed then too.

The collaborative music video from Swedish rapper Yung Lean and GENER8ION transcends the boundaries of a regular music video — it’s an extraordinary visual feast. The choreography was created by the legendary French choreographer Damien Jalet.
I’m a climate scientist, and what I have to say this Earth Day might surprise you: I don’t care if you think climate change is real.
Most of us already want cleaner air, healthier communities, less waste, and better food. Those are climate solutions too.
So, if the phrase “climate change” is too charged, call it something else. If we all agree on solutions to fix this crisis, then accepting the science becomes secondary.

"Rahmstorf, who has studied the Amoc for 35 yrs, has said a collapse must be avoided 'at all costs'. 'I argued this when we thought the chance of an Amoc shutdown was maybe 5% &even then we were saying that risk is too high given the massive impacts. Now it looks like it’s >50%'"
@VeritasFerre@ProfBillMcGuire The point is AMOC isn’t driven by salinity alone. it’s driven by density (temp + salinity). Meltwater dilutes and makes surface water less dense, reducing the sinking that powers the AMOC.
Literally devastating news
And almost certainly even worse because the models don't include the effects of huge volumes of Greenland meltwater pouring into the North Atlantic at a rate of 30 million tonnes AN HOUR

Somewhere along the way we lost sight of the fact that when we harm nature, we harm ourselves. We need to return to our roots and protect what we have and rebuild what we have destroyed. Nature is priceless.💚☘️🌿🌱🌳🌲🍀💚
we live on a planet where trees warn each other of danger through underground networks. where octopuses dream. where elephants return to the bones of their dead and stand over them in silence. where bees communicate through dance, showing each other where to fly. where flowers bloom...where crows remember human faces -especially those who were cruel to them - and pass that memory on to their young. where ants build entire cities. where cats purr at a frequency that can help heal bones. where forests, after fires, grow flowers first.
@Soubriquet_@MikeHudema@antonioguterres China’s CO2 emissions have now been “flat or falling” for 21 months now. The long game isn’t economic self-harm. ~55% of global GDP depends on nature, while wildlife populations have declined c70% since 1970, a proxy for ecosystem health. The real risk is systemic...
Another blow for all those politicians and pundits saying #netzero should be dropped as unpopular. Huge poll shows most Europeans back the expansion of #renewables even if they cost more (which they don’t). Few would prioritise fossil fuels.

@Soubriquet_@MikeHudema@antonioguterres China’s emissions reflect global demand, and it’s investing at scale in clean energy with emissions expected to peak this decade. The idea that one country’s emissions justify inaction elsewhere doesn’t hold… this is a collective risk in a wicked problem.
Starmer should immediately & unequivocally ban access to British airspace to US warplanes. The UK must not be accomplice to a US President who is threatening more war crimes. Period.
Did @BBCr4today really just do a whole package about drilling in the N Sea without once even mentioning #climate change? And not having anyone challenging the one-sided claims of former BP boss? So irresponsible #bbcr4today
Hard to know which is more shocking - the apocalyptic warnings of the potential collapse of our food supply in the UK or the shameful fact that governments have tried to cover it up. Their complacency is off the scale …
BREAKING: This national security assessment, now being broadcast for the first time after the Government tried to hush it up, makes clear what many have sensed for some time: #climate - and #nature - breakdown presents serious and escalating risks to #UK homes, food systems, health, public services, national security and the wider economy.
@GBNEWS I wish those advising MPs to show up on TV looking like Bob The Builder as some desperate attempt to make people think they’re hard at work with their bare hands, would realise this is such an old and ridiculous visual and it doesn’t work anymore.
