It appeared to be going fine, it looked like Trump wanted a ceasefire immediately to stop the death while they worked out a long term deal and Zelenskyy kept asking for more. He could have just agreed to a ceasefire and hammered out the fine details later.

The tipping point was when JD stated this has to be dealt with diplomatically and Zelenskyy replies along the lines of “this can’t be done diplomatically, you tell me about diplomacy with this killer” etc and then the ocean remark could be interpreted as a threat.

So my perspective is they listened to this guy complain for 35 minutes and got frustrated because “we’re trying to save your country”.
