Silver Trail Middle School has joined the #UnderwaterBroward movement! 🏃🏽
We engaged almost one hundred students in learning about the immense climate challenges we face, but more importantly, the opportunity we have to change the course of history. 📚
“The Underwater: Broward” bus has officially been unveiled! 🎉
This mobile climate art piece is now in action, driving across Broward County and raising awareness about the threats of sea level rise. 💧

At the 22nd Annual Broward Water Matters Day, we spoke about the launch of our climate initiative, “The Underwater: Broward” and engaged tons of people in the process. This may hold the record for most Underwater elevation yard signs given out in a single day!

#UnderwaterBroward makes a splash at Driftwood Middle!💧
We had over 100 students learn about climate justice and then dove straight into solutions and engaged them all in participating in our countywide initiative, “The Underwater: Broward.” ✊🏼
And our first #UnderwaterBroward middle school is complete! Beachside Montessori Village is near the Hollywood coastline, but it sits high at 11 feet above sea level. 🏫
We engaged every single one of their 6th graders in learning about using art for climate action. 🌎
Today the @XCFoundation partnered with the Peabody Essex Museum to launch the newest iteration of “Endangered World” 🌎
People were invited to adopt-a-species, pledge an eco-action on behalf of that animal, and silkscreen it onto an old piece of clothing or cloth 🐘
Our amazing media coverage continues! The @washingtonpost just published a fantastic piece on our creative climate action campaign, The Underwater.

Thank you to @XCFoundation for visiting Miami Beach Sr. today! The Underwater is an interactive, socially engaged art project that sparks conversation & action around climate change & sea level rise. Our students had so much fun learning & contributing to the art installation!
🌊The Underwater sculpture activations are underway! Take a look at how @xcortada and @adamroberti engaged these students at Westwind Lakes Park to participate in this installation activation!🧑🎨
Many thanks to Demps Park for hosting us and we can’t wait to continue these activations at parks across Miami-Dade!

Here’s a look inside our inspiring day at Demps Park with some incredibly wise elders.🍃
Check out how they created elevation yard signs and took part in a touching ritual with @xcortada, a profound moment—hopefully the first and last time that seawater touches the sculpture.
🙌 It’s all about the U! Take a look at the University of Miami’s “U” statue hosting Xavier Cortada’s “Underwater Vote” campaign back in 2020! Remember to prioritize good climate policy when electing your government officials!
Here are a few shots from our installations at Deerwood Lakes Park, JL, and Enid W. Demps Park. We were excited to have @LOUISAGUIRRE join us to document the process. Learn more about these sustainable concrete elevation sculptures by clicking the link! https://t.co/eMTnZafWf7 🌿
In 2020, the Underwater Vote installation surfaced at the University of Miami’s Lakeside Village, urging spectators to cast their votes for leaders committed to climate action at every level of government. 🙌🗳️
