We’ve been hearing directly from Manitoba farmers and small business owners about the devastating impacts of this month’s severe storms.

💪The numbers don't lie! CFIB's provincial lobbying activity in Manitoba is more than 6x higher than the next most active lobbyist on the registry.
At CFIB, we never give up, we never go away, and we never stop fighting for small business!
🌩️ CFIB has written to Manitoba Public Insurance (MPI) following member concerns about changes to the hail claims process after the June 9 storm. We’re seeking clarity on estimating procedures, consumer choice, and ensuring fair access for independent Manitoba repair shops.
Manitoba small business confidence falls again in May. "Demand is weak, costs, especially fuel, are high, and conditions don’t show signs of improving. This environment is not conducive to strong orders or investment.” https://t.co/NLtgp2RPD0
The Premier said it best: "It tastes so much better with no tax." Manitoba's small shops & restaurants want their chicken to taste tax-free too! 🍗 CFIB is calling on @MBGov to expand the grocery PST cut to include food from small retailers & restaurants.

We can get caught up with all the negative stuff going on in the world and forget about all the positives in our lives
Farming can be challenging sometimes but I’m thankful I get to do what I love

WATCH:🚜Red tape is pushing Canadian agri-businesses to the brink. Yesterday, CFIB’s Brianna Solberg joined @MaraleeCTV to break down why excessive regulation is threatening farms, food production, and the next generation. https://t.co/6Ids5NqeHQ #RedTapeAwarenessWeek#RTAW
🌾 Cut red tape or risk losing our farms! The future of Canada’s agriculture industry is at risk, as nearly 7 in 10 agri-businesses are advising the next generation not to run a business due to the level of red tape. https://t.co/2Y9iRXeGbv #RTAW#RedTapeAwarenessWeek@CFIBNews
📢 Manitoba lands an F in CFIB’s 2026 Red Tape Report Card. The province lags far behind others working to modernize rules and improve accountability.
🚨 With high costs and uncertainty, reducing red tape matters more than ever. #RedTapeAwarenessWeek

MB businesses can now access up to $2,500 to help cover cameras, alarms, lighting and other security upgrades. A much-needed boost as crime costs continue to rise.

CFIB was proud to attend and speak at today’s announcement of Manitoba’s new Business Security Rebate. Thanks to the MB government for listening to small business concerns. We’ll keep pushing for stronger community-safety supports, but this rebate is a solid step forward.
Great to be in attendance today as the MB PC Party introduced Bill 228 - to legislate WCB surplus refunds. This would ensure funds are returned fairly to employers when reserves exceed targets. We hope all parties support this bill so SME's get the relief they deserve.
As many Canadians hit stores and websites on Black Friday, it is important to remember that tomorrow is Small Business Saturday!
Supporting small businesses is a great way to strengthen our communities across Canada. While Canadians love to live in areas with lots of independent shops, restaurants and service businesses, they often head to the big box stores on the weekend, bypassing their local small businesses. Let's change that!
