It was purely an economical decision for me. I bought mine because my 2015 Honda Fit cost me more money per month than my Model Y. I drive a LOT for work, and get compensated for the miles, so every dollar that doesn’t go to gas goes into my pocket. The Honda Fit is commendable, but that CVT transmission was made of cheese, it turned out, so at over 250,000 hard kilometers, it gave out and having to replace that for $1600 pissed me off enough to put down the $250 deposit and get a Model Y. The Model Y is much nicer, cheaper to run, and drives itself. I can work longer, drive farther, earn more money, and KEEP more of that money because I’m not paying for Gas. Honestly there are so many other things about this car, for me, that rank higher than the environmental benefits.
@randydu55280024@CorbinSmithNFL Lifting up the poor is not the same as bringing down the middle class. You know what would actually fix things? Fighting corruption and inefficiency.
@CorpFin_Guy@CorbinSmithNFL I admit, I could’ve used a more nominal amount and my math was wrong. But I think my point still stands marginal utility is a real thing.
@LoughlinCody@CorbinSmithNFL This is the facade of a flat tax system. In practice that $4000 has way more utility for someone earning $20k, versus someone earning $1B. Look up Marginal Utility.
@ABarghelame@CorbinSmithNFL Yes. A lot of countries do this and, turns out that’s also a bad idea. You’d need a high tax rate, and you still wouldn’t break even and end up implementing a progressive tax system alongside anyway.
@jay_pnw@BoardObserver@CorbinSmithNFL My bad. $4000. This just proves my point even harder. But you knew that and chose to pick on a math mistake instead of getting the point. It’s called Marginal Utility.
I completely agree with your take but I’m too stupid to see the difference. I don’t use AI as deftly as enthusiasts and coders do. I’ve been using Grok to do scripting for me. Seems to work fine so far. This must mean that a lot, maybe enough people use it the way I do and they’ve been able to get by. Given that they’ve been at this for a lot less time than everyone else, and also because literally OpenAI pressed reset on Elon’s progress in February 2018, they are making astounding headway and iterating quickly. Including this new wave of hiring and firings.
Everything you’ve said is incorrect. Including the fact that you think it’s ugly. I for one think it looks fucking badass, and everyone else is wrong. Furthermore, I don’t know if you’ve test driven one, but I have and it’s crazy good. The problem is that Electric trucks as a category struggle for mass adoption due to high prices. Across all models for sale today, the cybertruck is #1 or #2 (Ford F150 Lightning being its closest competitor by sales, which has now been discontinued.) This category is a tough nut to crack and Tesla is going to try again with its newest configuration at this new price point.
@SawyerMerritt@elonmusk would literally sell cybercabs at a loss just to get @MKBHD to shave his head for the memes. @Tesla will make its money back on the fares. They did this with Xbox to sell Xbox Live, PlayStation with PlayStation+ Amazon Kindle… I’m sure there’s more examples.
@Murray_Brewster I really thought it was strange that the DND would name names like that. Sounds like MWO Robar is standing his ground and now he’s getting railroaded for it.
