I hate private equity.
Like, genuinely HATE it.
Not investing. Not business. I hate the specific model where a firm borrows money to buy a company, puts that debt on the company's books, pays itself fees out of the profits, and walks away rich whether it survives or not.
Toys R Us was profitable when they bought it. $5 billion in debt later, 33,000 people were out of work with zero severance.
The firms didn't lose. They never do. The debt isn't theirs.
Nobody's saying capitalism is the problem.
I'm saying there's a version of it where you can bankrupt a company on purpose, and it's legal, and it works every time.

Javier Milei’s administration has been showcasing Patagonia to Silicon Valley executives, culminating in OpenAI’s recent ‘Stargate Argentina’ announcement. The focus of this piece, Emiliano Kargieman, is the man actually developing OpenAI’s Argentine project and boasts significant ties to United States’ military and intelligence, NASA, Palantir and the Silicon Valley stalwarts who helped privatize space.
Here, we detail how Kargieman has said the quiet apart loud about how data center construction isn't about "making jobs", it's about making money, and how he has suggested that OpenAI is a front for the accelerated build-out of AI infrastructure (financed by an intentional debt bubble). He has also suggested that Stargate Argentina will eventually be used, not by OpenAI (which Kargieman anticipates will collapse when the AI bubble pops), but by the Argentine State.
In looking at Javier Milei's policies with respect to AI domestically in Argentina, the "digital transformation" of the Argentine State - which Stargate Argentina hopes to further advance - is largely for "predictive" behavioral control of its population. We also touch on some of the likely motivators of Peter Thiel's move to Argentina and where he fits into all of this.

I saw a post on Reddit that said that “The underlying purpose of AI is to allow wealth to access skill while removing from the skilled the ability to access wealth.” And I don’t think I’ve ever seen AI described so incisively.
This is insane 😳
Most people are just using AI tools
Very few actually understand how they work
So I collected Stanford’s complete LLM curriculum
and turned it into a step-by-step learning path
Worth over $500
Giving it away free for the first 4,500 people
Transformers → Training → Alignment → Agents → Evaluation
Study this once and you’ll stop guessing with prompts
and start thinking like a real AI engineer

An AfroCuban comrade sent me this latest attack on 🇨🇺 by Diaspora Dash where she calls Cuba a “White antiBlack state” and I need to respond fully bc she doesn’t allow comments and the stakes are too damn high to let this imperialist propaganda go unchecked:
As usual, Dash collapses internal Black critique in Cuba into a regime change narrative. That distortion matters bc U.S. policy toward Cuba has long sought to generate hardship and internal disaffection to weaken and ultimately overthrow the Cuban govt.
She opens w/a 1961 piece by Juan René Betancourt as if it’s some neutral sociological exposé. He was a critic of revolutionary centralization. The Communist Party of Cuba itself drew heavily from AfroCuban working class sectors and some of the “independent” Black organizations Betancourt defends were tied to Batista-era patronage networks. His piece is squarely situated within an anticommunist dissident political critique of the revolution, not outside that context
Scholarly studies of race politics in revolutionary Cuba also note that early Black anticommunist critiques were often instrumentalized by Cold War geopolitics + exile opposition.
And using AfroCubaWeb to build a flat indictment is especially sloppy, bc they publish anti-embargo material, and have long posted on the harms of U.S. policy toward Cuba.
On the 2013 piece by Roberto Zurbano: his 2013 argument was not “Cuba is a white suprematist state.” It was that the Revolution made real material gains ag formal racial exclusion, but post Soviet realities, tourism-era stratifications, remittances, and market reforms reproduce disparate racial outcomes.
Zurbano himself objected to the NYT headline and that many Black Cubans make similar critiques do so within, *not against* the socialist project.
She continues to then use Luis Manuel Otero Alcántara’s San Isidro mvmnt that received direct funding from NED to decry “anti Black repression” in Cuba bc her ultimate stance is clear: Cuba is anti Black, therefore anti-imperialist solidarity is hollow, therefore pressure to topple the Cuban state is justified.😒
This is darkly funny in the most 21st-century way:
Empire wages war. The internet replies with crowd-sourced engineering.
Chinese civilians with STEM backgrounds are turning warfare into open-source resistance.
One engineer posted a free tutorial on how to shoot down a US F-35.
Five days later, Iran said: “Got it.” ✅
No state sponsorship. No weapons contract.
Just DIY patriotism, a video deadlier than a missile, a physics degree, and 50 million views.
Welcome to the era of viral asymmetry.
I don't think people understand the gravity of the situation as the UN is preparing for possible nuclear weapon use in Iran.
This is a picture of Tehran. For you uneducated, untraveled, never-served, warhawks licking your chops at the thought of bombing it. It's not some low population desert. There are families, children, family pets. Regular working class people with dreams. You're sick to want war.
Tehran is a city of nearly 10,000,000 people. Imagine nuking Washington, Berlin, Paris, London, or beyond, bombed with nuclear weapons.
I gave up my diplomatic career to leak this information. I suspended my duties so as not to be part of or a witness to this crime against humanity, in an attempt to prevent a nuclear winter before it is too late.
Yesterday, nearly ten million people protested “No Kings” in the United States. The possibility of the use of nuclear weapons must be taken very seriously. It's dangerous. Act now. Spread this message worldwide. Take the streets. Protest for our humanity and future. Only the people can stop it. History will remember us.
@FluorescentGrey jeffrey sachs is another one whose rise in alt media makes no sense given his role in the economic destruction of post-ussr russia and the creation of a russian oligarch class tied at the hip to marc rich and israel
Did YOU want to watch CCTV's AI Martial Arts cartoon about the Straits of Hormuz crisis? Complete with fighting Persian Cats? Well I subtitled it for you so you can enjoy it in all its trope-laden glory! Remember kids, the mountains will stay standing while the green water flows, and the true art of war is not figuring out how to fight, but how to stop!🥷😼🦅
I blame Bernie Sanders, more than any other person, for destroying the potential of the past two and a half years, and turning the US progressive movement into a useless tool of soft imperialism and liberal Zionism. I have blocked both of his accounts. Done forever.
🔥“IRAN IS DOING AN EXCELLENT JOB”
Former US Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General MARK ALEXANDER MILLEY, now retired, who made the mistake of underestimating the RUSSIAN military, has presented his analysis.
All US bases and coastal installations have been destroyed, and we are now dependent on INDIAN ports for our supplies and logistics.
The IRANIANS, contrary to our expectations, have done an excellent job, and we are in a difficult situation.
IRAN has achieved significant successes by striking US and ISRAELI targets. RUSSIA and CHINA are closely monitoring the war and providing intelligence to TEHRAN.
The underground missile bases that Iran has built in all its provinces have not been damaged, and the country has an inexhaustible stockpile of missiles.
In this war, our weakness lies in supply and logistics, unlike Iran, a continental power with 93 million inhabitants and a territory equivalent to that of all of Western EUROPE.
His analysis echoes that of Israeli journalist Alon Mizrahi!

We need good, knowledgeable people to be politically active now more than ever before.
The Peskovite faction in Moscow is opposed to Russia joining in defence of Iran if the US attacks. Dmitry Peskov threatens to hit the kill switch on Russian air defence systems: “we call on our Iranian friends...to exercise restraint”. https://t.co/KbuJOA02Vr
@Liberation_Blk Agree. My sense of the Cuban expat community (Rubio) since the Castro revolution is that it is mostly light-skinned. On a visit to Cuba in 2019 I saw quite a mix of people. But one African-descended tour guide assured us that discrimination is practiced in Cuba.
It's so American how the Sackler family caused a national opioid crisis which ultimately led to the fentanyl crisis, and instead of imprisoning them the US eventually went "Hang on, we can use this as an excuse to start a war with a country that doesn't even produce fentanyl."
