Entire art marketplaces will disappear. Others will censor their artists or gatekeep. Some like @JohnOrionYoung and @josiebellini were true to the spirit of crypto and showed us the way 7 years ago. iYKYK
With @MakersPlace also leaving the web3 shores, who remains from the JPEG art world? Should we have just stuck with artists like @JohnOrionYoung and @josiebellini who always minted directly via their own contracts?
Am I just asking these open questions to farm yaps? Who knows.

Updated version of "Top 100,000 NFT Rarity Tiers" is live ✨
After receiving an enormous amount of valuable feedback I am publishing ver. 2 with the following changes:
* 25 new artists / collections added or updated based on repeatable feedback and open market data.
* Total supply of the table increased from 103,000 to 109,500 (6%).
* Two new positions added in the "LOL Rare" and "YHGTBKM" top rarity categories.
* Improved readability of the table.
It is worth mentioning that the table is primarily based on public market data (floor prices, recent sales, volume etc). Transparency and the availability of sales data were critical considerations during its preparation. While many more artists and collections could potentially be included I believe an additional broader "Rare" (1m) category would be necessary.
Although this table is still a "work in progress" I do not anticipate major changes at this point. Detailed information about the newly added artists and collections can be found below 👇
Nice update! A couple minor quibbles..
You have a couple things listed as ‘impossibly rare’ above that are in your list as ‘very rare.’ Probably typos in the tweet but worth checking for consistency.
On JOYS, the date you have listed is 2019, which is indeed the date of the currently minted NFTs. There was however an older contract from 2018 for the first 82 JOYS that were transitioned to the new contract. You can find the old contract address here:
0x96313f2C374F901E3831ea6DE67b1165c4f39A54
There’s a bit of lore and story with these as the original JOYs were hot potatoes and non-721 tokens. You could simply pay the next highest price in the schedule to steal any JOY out of the current holder’s wallet.
“The self-proclaimed "all-powerful beat-maker", Berserk froze the creation of JOYs in JOYWORLD with the drop of their chilling self titled single.”
After berserk JOYS transitioned to the new contract as standard NFTs.
Long winded way of saying 2019 is a defensible date because that’s when the current tokens were minted but their history extends into early 2018 around the same time as the birth of Superrare.

1/ All NFT pfps derive inspiration from Punks, but only Meebits have the same Larva Labs provenance.
Here's a thread of my favorite Punk traits found within the @MeebitsNFTs collection.

@torolabs@CryptoKitties There was a collab in the works early 2021, we all got kinda busy and it fell through. Still have the sculpts! Maybe we should finish it 😃😸
There are no words that can describe the EPIC and great that was felt today at @theWIPmeetup with the Big legend @JohnOrionYoung 🔥
My admiration and respect always for this wonderful Artist that wherever he goes always leaves traces of JOY 💛✨
gm! I'm excited to share a brand new look for the @monaverse marketplace!
For a long time, it's been my thesis that 3D assets are going to become some of the most valuable digital collectibles over the next decade +.
MONA aims to be the marketplace for you to discover, buy, sell, and PLAY with 3D objects.
I love 3D art. 3D artists spend countless hours pushing every vertex to be just right, and that's only scratching the surface of the 3D production pipeline.
With MONA, I want to elevate 3D creators and game designers around the world.
You'll see our new marketplace exhibits a number of new features, including support for 3D assets across multiple chains, an enhanced 3D viewer, and a couple of other suprises.
Our team has been hard at work on this redesign in addition to a number of other new features that I can't wait to show you.
Please share / RT if you like the new site! We'd love to hear from you. ❤️
gm,
wanted to share an update on punks: when we acquired the collection a couple years ago, we did so with the intention of preserving the legacy of the collection.
we see punks as the early cave paintings of this new medium, and we were heavily influenced by them when creating our own spin on what an NFT collection could be with BAYC.
the team had a vision of collaborating with world-class artists to bridge web3 with the traditional art world. Nina Chanel is known for her graphic large-scale pieces with bold and colorful palettes. Her work is everywhere: MoMA, the Whitney, you name it. Matt and John were ecstatic to learn that she would be a CryptoPunks artist in residence, and so was the team.
Our plan is to get Nina’s latest collection into the hands of those who have been supporting her work in this space by making it available only to SuperCoolWorld holders. Current thinking is via randomized airdrop.
What about punks? Yuga will no longer touch punks. They will just be decentralized and preserved on the blockchain. The only thing we intend to do is support a few museums and institutions in their quest to acquire a punk and help educate their audience about them.
The art markets quietly keep churning.
There were 4 sales of Pebbles above 2 ETH yesterday, each bought by different wallets.
Sales for 8 ETH, 4.2 ETH, 4 ETH, 2.55 ETH.
Had a blast hanging out with @ThisTimm and checking out some of @JohnOrionYoung’s JOY TOYS on the Apple Vision Pro!!! We were also exploring @scuube’s 3D NFT now available to claim on @monaverse 🔥
