Why is RLNC (Random Linear Network Coding) revolutionising blockchain data transmission?
In traditional encoding methods or sharding systems, data transmission is always held back by the ‘slowest link’. You have to wait for all the slowest shards to arrive before you can decode and reconstruct the complete data. The moment there’s network jitter or a node experiences latency, the entire transmission grinds to a halt.
RLNC completely changes the game:
It encodes raw data into a series of random linear combinations (equations). Each data packet is a ‘mixed equation’, rather than a fixed chunk. The recipient does not need to receive packets in order, nor does it need to receive all specific packets; as long as a sufficient number (K) of linearly independent equations are collected, the original data can be instantly reconstructed through simple linear algebra!
This means:
