The locomotive, crew and track slot cost broadly the same whether you carry one layer of containers or two. So the second layer adds a lot of cargo without proportionally adding cost. DFCCIL’s pricing reflects this: the first tier is priced like a normal single-stack movement, while the second is roughly half-price. That brings the cost per container down by around 40–45%.

In simple terms: one train path can move roughly 180 containers instead of 90 without needing another locomotive, crew or path.

The DFC network is only a small fraction of Indian Railways' route length, yet it already carries a disproportionately large share of freight.

We are the first to do this.
India is running double-stack container trains under electric overhead wires — something no nation has done. They have always used diesel trains for double-stack.

Two containers stacked on top of each other need much greater electrical clearance. That meant redesigning the overhead electrification system and raising the pantograph/clearance envelope. We solved it and have implemented it.

So this isn't simply "put more containers on a train."
It is a different railway architecture: dedicated freight tracks + electrification + double stacking + longer trains.
And we are the first one to do this.

More containers per train.
Lower cost per container.
Faster freight movement.
Less road congestion.
Lower diesel consumption per tonne-km.

It's the infrastructure given by the Modi govt which is changing the economics of how freight moves across the country.

Replugging an old article. Please read - at least the second half where I predict how GCs, OBCs, SCs and other Hindus will react.

BJP's committed hindutva votebank is only 5-7% Hindus across all castes. Rest 35% votes that BJP gets are floating and is susceptible for loss (hence all the ladli behna schemes are needed to remind them where to vote).

Large chunk of GCs, OBCs, SCs, STs will forget everything in a jiffy and abandon BJP at moment's notice for immediate pacification of their desires OR immediate retribution for their anger, if they are not kept constantly aware of dangers broader Hindus are facing + Ladli Behna bribes. Either vote against BJP or note vote at all (thereby helping the defeat of BJP and then claiming how they taught BJP a lesson).

Congress (and other secular parties where congress is absent), even today, starts at solid 15%-17% (Muslims+Xians). That is a huge luxury that congress and/or secular ecosystem has.

@BJP4UP should keep this in mind for elections 10 months from now. There is a significant chance of Hindu vote slipping away from BJP (in spite of Yogi's good L&O performance).

Hence I repeatedly said - it is not easy to be a Gujarat. With that sort of consistency, we are only one bad poll away from squandering away the gains of last 12 years.

We in Maharashtra experienced this in 2019. What we lost in time and money in those 2 years (for no actual fault of voters) is huge.

This 40-looking, 140-kg Gen Z whale has the audacity to throw the “hamare tax se inko salary milti hai” line at an Army Commanding Officer whose entry into the cordoned-off zone she was blocking.

The Army isn't a private service being provided to individual taxpayers. Defence is a sovereign function of the state, funded from the consolidated public budget. A taxpayer doesn't personally employ a soldier and therefore doesn't acquire the right to order, obstruct or demean him. The soldier serves the Republic through the chain of command and the law.

Army personnel pay taxes too. They are salaried employees, so tax is deducted at source. They pay taxes on their interest, investments and other taxable income as well. They neither evade taxes by default nor steal a single rupee from the public exchequer.

Yet somehow, they are supposed to stand there and listen to entitled, loudmouthed, uncouth people lecture them about “taxpayers’ money.”

And ironically, according to social media reports, her family is into property dealing. We all know what a spotless reputation the property-dealing business has when it comes to tax compliance. But since it’s apparently cool, the “taxpayers’ money pays your salary” taunt can always be thrown at the armed forces.
