British writer and Editor in Chief of Middle East Eye David Hearst said that the removal of ICC Prosecutor Karim Khan came as a result of an 18 month political and media pressure campaign following his issuance of arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former war minister Yoav Gallant.

He explained that the procedures that led to Khan’s removal lacked the necessary legal safeguards and were subjected to influence and pressure from Israel and its allies.

Hearst believes that Khan’s expected ouster exposed a prolonged political and legal campaign aimed at removing him from his position, citing statements by Israel’s ambassador to the UN Danny Danon, who repeated claims linking the issuance of arrest warrants against Netanyahu and Gallant to the sexual misconduct allegations made against Khan.
