Iran's Rights in the Caspian Sea Are Not Negotiable.

The Islamic Republic, amid profound structural weakness and a deep crisis of legitimacy, is seeking to advance and implement the Convention on the Legal Status of the Caspian Sea (the Aktau Convention). This effort, undertaken without the mandate of the Iranian people and without a clear and comprehensive guarantee of Iran's historic rights, is deeply concerning and constitutes a serious threat to Iran's national interests.

Under the 1921 and 1940 treaties between Iran and the Soviet Union, the legal regime governing the Caspian Sea was founded on the parties' shared rights and the principles of mutual agreement and common interests.

Following the dissolution of the Soviet Union, the newly independent states reaffirmed, in the Alma-Ata Declaration (December 1991), their commitment to the treaties of the former Soviet Union and to fulfilling the international obligations arising from those agreements through the successor states.

Accordingly, any fundamental change to the legal status of this strategically vital body of water must be made with the agreement of all littoral states and with full respect for Iran's rights.

However, the Aktau Convention provides for the conclusion of bilateral and multilateral agreements among the littoral states concerning portions of the seabed and subsoil of the Caspian Sea, areas that were previously part of the shared waters of Iran and the Soviet Union.

This sets a dangerous precedent. By circumventing the principle of consensus among all littoral states, it effectively weakens Iran's historic position and diminishes the country's role in determining the future legal status of the Caspian Sea.

Since the signing of the Aktau Convention in 2018, I have repeatedly warned that "national interests cannot be safeguarded from a position of weakness." At the time, I also stressed that the criminal clique ruling the Islamic Republic sacrifices the interests of the Iranian nation and homeland for its own survival, and that its foreign policy repeatedly resorts to concessions and appeasement from a position of weakness.

My position on the current process remains unchanged. I consider the Islamic Republic's attempt to ratify this convention to be contrary to Iran's national interests.

No decision concerning Iran's resources, borders, or sovereign rights in this strategic body of water can possess legitimacy without the genuine participation and consent of the Iranian people. Iran's rights in the Caspian Sea are not negotiable, nor can they be relinquished. Any action that undermines these rights will be recorded in the historical memory of the Iranian nation, and those responsible will ultimately be held accountable by the people of Iran.

Arm the Iranian people!

The Islamic Republic is continuing its war on the people of Iran. But Iranians are fighting back.

Yesterday in Esfahan, citizens noticed the regime was preparing for a barbaric public execution. Reports circulated that the regime was set to hang three protesters from the January 8/9 uprising.

At dawn, hundreds of brave Iranians gathered in the square to protest this medieval brutality and public murder. They jeered and shouted at the executioners. Sadly as the call to prayer played, two young men were hung from cranes.

Security forces chased the protesters, firing on them with live ammunition, trying to kill more and more Iranians.

The murder of protesters and other political prisoners are often done in prisons. But the regime, fearing the Iranian people will rise against them, is conducting them in public in an attempt to intimidate them into silence.

Untold other brave protesters are currently facing a similar fate. Their lives hang in the balance.

This is two Irans: the vile and evil Islamic Republic against the brave and heroic people of Iran.

Iranians will not back down. They will fight. But they should not have to fight alone. The world must back these brave men and women.

چهل و شش سال از درگذشت پدرم می‌گذرد، اما او امروز زنده‌ترین چهره سیاسی در پیشگاه تاریخ و دل ایرانیان است.

شعله عشق ملت ایران به او روز به روز بلندتر و فروزان‌تر می‌شود. همان‌طور که جاویدنام مجیدرضا رهنورد به نیابت از میلیون‌ها جوان ایرانی نوشت: «نسلی عاشقت شد، که تو را هرگز ندید».

پدرم با تمام وجود، عاشقِ ایران بود. قلب او با طبیعت این خاک می‌تپید و باریدن باران بر دشت‌های ایران، برایش بهترین و زیباترین خبر بود.

او در ۲۲ سالگی، کشور را در شرایط دشوار اشغال متفقین تحویل گرفت و با تکیه بر میهن‌پرستی، ایران را به سوی دروازه‌های تمدن بزرگ هدایت کرد. اگر فاجعه ۵۷، مسیر تاریخ ما را منحرف نمی‌کرد، ایران امروز یکی از درخشان‌ترین قطب‌های رفاه و توسعه در جهان بود.

هم‌میهنانم، اگر به راه او باور داریم، مسئولیت بزرگی بر دوش ماست. برای وفاداری به نگاه او، ما باید ایران را از این فرقه تبهکار پس بگیریم و آن را دوباره بسازیم.

Six months ago, tonight, Tehran went dark. All of Iran went dark. And into that darkness, millions of Iranians walked out of their homes anyway.

January 8th and 9th were not just two nights of protest. They were the night Iran's silence broke. Millions came into the streets, into the squares, onto their rooftops — but the regime answered them with bullets. Tens of thousands of my compatriots were killed in those forty-eight hours. Tens of thousands more have been arrested, tortured, and sentenced to die since.

They came out, determined and brave. I think of them every day. On those two nights I lost countrymen I will never get to meet. I do not hear a statistic when I hear the number 40,000. I see a son who did not come home to his mother. A daughter who will not sit at her family's table again. I think of each of them the way I would think of my own child, my own brother, my own sister. I carry the weight of every one of those names. But the families of the fallen I meet with, week after week, hearten our nation's will to carry on. Their children did not die in vain. They died for freedom, and they died with pride.

History will remember what these men and women did; I will make sure of it. Like the resistance who stood against tyranny in occupied Europe, and like the revolutionaries who fought for liberty in America. But theirs was a particular bravery. They had no army, no air cover, nothing but the belief in what they stood for. They stood anyway. A united nation choosing to face the guns together rather than live one more day in fear. The men and women of the 8th and 9th of January will be remembered in Iran's history as the greatest generation that preferred to die free and standing than to live cowered on their knees.

To the international community, I ask this: do not let a negotiating table in Geneva or Islamabad erase what happened in the streets of Tehran, Mashhad, and Kermanshah. They died for freedom. And when they are free, the Strait of Hormuz will open. The nuclear threat will end. And we will have true peace.

I have told my compatriots: what you did on January 8th and 9th cannot be undone. Together, we will reclaim our country’s rightful place in the world, our national dignity, and honor the lives of our heroes. Now is the time to reassess, regroup, and rededicate ourselves to victory.

We honor the fallen by finishing what they started. A free Iran is no longer a matter of hope. It is a matter of fact.

And know that my brave compatriots are not just fighting for their own liberation but for the peace and stability of the world.

هم‌میهنان عزیز،

جمهوری اسلامی می‌کوشد صدای واقعی مردم ایران را در میان هیاهوی مراسم حکومتی برای یک جنایتکار بالفطره و یکی از منفورترین حاکمان تاریخ ایران پنهان کند. رژیمی فرسوده، پوسیده و رو به زوال، با نمایش‌های ساختگی، تبلیغات دروغین و هزینه‌های هنگفتی که از جیب مردم ایران غارت می‌شود، تلاش دارد تصویری جعلی از مشروعیت برای خود بسازد.

اما حقیقت ایران جای دیگری ایستاده است؛ در کنار نام و یاد فرزندان دلاوری که با آگاهی، رشادت و فداکاری، در یکی از حساس‌ترین لحظات تاریخ این سرزمین، جان خود را در راه آزادی ایران فدا کردند.

بیش از ۴۰ هزار جاویدنام دی‌ماه، با آگاهی از خطرهای پیش رو، قدم در این مسیر گذاشتند. آنان می‌دانستند شاید دیگر هرگز به خانه بازنگردند، اما در لحظه‌ای که ایران به آنان نیاز داشت، ایستادند. آنان بر خلاف مزدوران ضحاک، برای وعده‌های ناچیز و منافع شخصی به میدان نیامده بودند. آنها، شکوهمند، برای بازپس‌گیری ایران و هویت ملی‌مان برخاستند. آنان که از جنس زندگی، باور و نور بودند، در برابر تاریکی ایستادند تا نام ایران زنده بماند؛ و نام‌شان برای همیشه در تاریخ سرزمین ما ماندگار شد. آنان نشان دادند که عشق به میهن، از ترس مرگ نیرومندتر است.

امروز شش ماه از آن روزها گذشته است، اما برای خانواده‌های شریف جاویدنامان، زمان همچنان در همان شب‌های دشوار متوقف مانده است؛ خانواده‌هایی که عزیز و گاه تنها نان‌آور خود را از دست داده‌اند؛ پدران و مادرانی که هر صبح با جای خالی فرزندشان چشم می‌گشایند؛ همسران، خواهران و برادرانی که در کنار رنج سوگ، فشار تهدید و سرکوب را نیز تحمل می‌کنند.

این خانواده‌ها تنها صاحبان یک داغ نیستند؛ آنها نگهبان و امانت‌دار یاد و فداکاری دلیرترین فرزندان ایران هستند. مسئولیت همه ماست که اجازه ندهیم این بار سنگین را به تنهایی بر دوش بکشند. وظیفه ملی و میهنی ماست که بیش از پیش پشتیبان‌شان باشیم؛ به دیدارشان برویم، صدای آنان را بازتاب دهیم، یاد عزیزانشان را زنده نگه داریم و در حد توان خود، نگذاریم فشارهای روحی، تهدیدها و دشواری‌های مالی، آنان را به سکوت و فراموشی وادار کند.

تاریخ بارها نشان داده است که هیچ قدرتی نمی‌تواند اراده ملتی متحد را که برای رهایی و ساختن آینده‌ای بهتر برخاسته است، برای همیشه خاموش کند. راهی که با فداکاری فرزندان جاویدنام ایران روشن شده است، ادامه خواهد یافت؛ تا روزی که ایران به آزادی، دولت ملی و آینده‌ای شایسته ملت بزرگ ما دست یابد.
