It is with mixed emotion that we are looking at this pause announcement. Today we learn that 20 children have been killed by air strikes since the announcement… it is time for this madness to stop with a DEFINITIVE ceasefire.
Patrick Robitaille, Head of Advocacy at Save the Children Canada, joins @globalnews Morning to discuss the devastating impact of the Gaza war on children and whether a ceasefire could help ease their suffering.

So many lessons learned, people met, stories shared. @BobRae48 reminded us the UN Charter says: «We the people ». We have to get back to that sometimes. Keeping in mind who was not in the room when engaging in striving for a better future.
#HAPPENINGNOW: Dalia Al-Awqati, Head of Humanitarian Affairs, and Patrick Robitaille, Senior Advisor, Policy and Government Relations, will urge Canada to do more for the children of Gaza during today's Senate Committee hearing.

It was sobering to reflect on risks to humanitarian workers. This denies humanitarian accès to those in need. Bravo @MdMCanada and all the organizers. #NotATarget
Yesterday’s panel in Ottawa called attention to the shared responsibilities of States, donors, the international community and NGOs in strengthening the protection of humanitarian and health workers.

Happy to join this important dialogue on the protection of humanitarian workers in armed conflict today in Ottawa. Without workers, no aid can be meaningfully delivered to the victimes of war. #notatarget
The UN Secretary General has added the Israeli armed and security forces, Qassam Brigades (Hamas) and Al-Quds Brigades (Islamic Jihad) to its list of groups who committed grave violations against children in armed conflict 2023.
The Child and Armed Conflict (CAAC) report found more than 8,000 grave violations, including 7,873 violations against Palestinian children and 136 violations against Israeli children. This is more grave violations than anywhere else in the world.
This war on children must stop.
The UK government must immediately suspend arms to Israel and demand an immediate and definitive #CeasefireNOW.

Canada stands shoulder to shoulder with the people of Lebanon. Today, alongside @F_ElKhoury, @LenaMetlegeDiab and the members of the Lebanese-Canadian community, we announced $65M for critical support such as food, clean water, and healthcare in Lebanon.
Wow, what a incredible visual representation of what is behind those images we see. @melaniejoly, please continue to talk about Children's Rights in Gaza and in the World. This is their future we are talking about.
The horrors children have been subjected to in the last 6 months have been endless.
What will it take for our leaders to take decisive action? We can't and won't stop calling for an immediate, definitive ceasefire.
Please retweet 🙏

Canada's #Parliament, with a substantial majority of 204-117, has endorsed a motion that provides concrete measures to halt violence, including an end to military exports to Israel.
While much more must be done for #Canada to take a stand for children's rights, we welcome this significant step in the right direction. Grave violations of children's rights must stop. Now.

In #Egypt, our team is prepping 1,400 Winterisation Kits for #Gaza, packed with shelter essentials and comfort items, each valued around $394. As we provide this crucial aid, we also call for an end to arms transfers to Israel, a definitive ceasefire, open access for aid, and respect for International Laws.
Staggering. The number of children reported killed in just over 4 months in #Gaza is higher than the number of children killed in 4 years of wars around the world combined.
This war is a war on children. It is a war on their childhood and their future.
#ceasefireNow for the sake of children in #Gaza
#SDI2024
It was great to meet with @melaniejoly to discuss what she and @CanadaFP can do to champion children’s rights and protect humanitarian workers who strive to protect those rights every day. We remain extremely concerned by the Grave Violations against children – including killing and maiming, attacks on schools and hospitals, denial of humanitarian access, and abduction – in recent conflicts. #StopTheWarOnChildren #NotATarget
It was a pleasure to meet Minister Joly. This was a hard but frank and constructive discussion. We look forward to Canada showing its leadership in championing all Children and their rights. This is the only way to Peace.
Many humanitarian workers have been killed in Gaza. More must be done to protect them and the life-saving services they provide, as per humanitarian law.
With @MSF, @SavetheChildren, @OxfamQuebec, we discussed their important work and how Canada can continue to support them.
