I will be speaking at @siggraph Thursday at 10:15, come talk to me about being a crash test dummy for @AgileLens new platform that allows one actor to use multiple bodies! https://t.co/8GwLZqbLmm
Very excited to host @xractor and @DebbieDeerProds at the Next Stage Immersive Summit this June to talk about their work at York University: live performance + XR + an amazingly talented group of IPBOC artists + a commitment to access, environmentalism, and diversity!
@_rygo6 Great observation, I agree. There are some studies from the Stanford VR lab about avatars and embodiment that support your assertions but it’s clear we are just scratching the surface.
@MyklRogers@Halfbrick I’d love to see a VR fight league. Since TOTF is a realistic boxing simulator, any ideas for encouraging pvp players to use correct boxing form instead of crazy arm flailing? (*cough*VFC)
@Halfbrick I teach VR as a career, and TOTF is the only VR game I still play regularly since the first time I tried it in 2017. I am so excited that @Halfbrick has joined with Ian to make the sequel, I’m so glad my favorite VR game is in good hands. Mixed reality boxing league, anyone? :)
@iragreenberg I think as a way of only creating 2d images you might be right. But perhaps by combining new tools that combine AI set (environment) and costume (avatar) design with spatial audio and generative branching narratives this could finally achieve the dream of the “gesamtkunswerk”
This is the future for #xr#theatre and even #therapy. So much of how we make sense of what people are saying is actually based in subconscious movements like these “micro-expressions” that we only perceive as passing emotions or instincts we can’t normally explain rationally.
Researchers from the University of Auckland investigated how facial “micro-expressions” could be combined with EEG, GSR, and PPG data to bring more realistic emotional communication to digital avatars and interactions.

@VRUnderground Excuse me while I become a sci-fi douche, but…The true XR creator intentionally develops a new sense of proprioception to understand the space around them intuitively so such protections are not necessary. Self inflicted injuries are a good teacher…
