VRU Nexus Blender plugin live test
Today marks the first time I had a chance to test the VRU Nexus Blender plugin externally. There were some hiccups and things to solve but overall it seems functional!
Anyone can build entire worlds inside of The VRU nexus in #VRChat provided they have this Blender plugin. We got the plugin working and the first thing we did was test a couple things and place a pool table. lol
The plender plugin outputs a text file that can either be baked into the world upload itself or loaded externally.
What does this mean? It means we have a resource now where all of the complex stuff around world creation is baseline and the only thing you have to worry about is making a cool space. We have an extensive list of arcade games and props as well as a double video player setup with fully functional options menu for things like epilepsy mode and quality settings.
It's a sandbox inside of a sandbox! The system makes extensive use of light volumes and LTCGI. Its quest compatible. Moving forward I will probably never go back to building worlds the old fashioned way as its completely unnecessary with a setup like this.
Its not going to stop here, not only is this the foundation of The VRU Nexus, but I plan to provide tools to make world building more user friendly than ever.
Worlds built for the VRU Nexus are fully compatible with other platforms such as #NexVR and anything on #BasisVR
The Castle venue is now a location in the Nexus but it will need a bit of work done. Vertex lighting is fantastic in many ways but requires a bit of attention to get right.
I am making far better use of GPU instancing vs my previous versions of this world as well since it is so streamlined now. Later today I will be bringing a lot more props and decorations into the scene as well.
It's pretty interesting how much of a performance jump this method has created. Mainly because in some ways it is more limited and there are stricter rules in how to do things thus it forces a lot more thought to go into how everything is built.
Next month we will begin seeing a lot more activity in the Nexus for sure. I just need to get things a bit further along.
@caren633881 Yeah its being used for a huge open world city environment with many Clubs and private residencies for running events. Basically you wont run into performance issues because there is nothing to effect performance unless it is explicitly loaded.
VRU Nexus
Unity is not open, All I have running is #VRChat in a private lobby and Blender using my VRU Nexus plugin.
- I built a single ceiling support beam then instance it as a GPU instanced object.
- GPU instanced objects are properly stored as a single object in text data to save space.
- I duplicate the beam over the ceiling adding detail to the scene.
- I baked Vertex lighting so the beams are correctly lit.
I go to my private VRChat lobby. reload the scene for all players in the lobby. We see my changes live without having to reload the world. This works for multiplayer as well. If multiple people were in the lobby they would all see this change at the same time.
Again UNITY IS NOT OPEN ON MY PC DURING THIS VIDEO.
Testing of VRU nexus. I fundamentally changed world creation for #VRChat. By extrapolating worlds to text data and allowing a blender plugin to generate that text data I can make structural changes to a world without having people reload it.
This mega world is going to go hard.
I am about to unleash a method that changes world creation and mega worlds fundamentally. Live world updates in real time, no need to rejoin. Simpler, more user friendly development environment. I am already planning things out with multiple communities.
This is it!

VRU Nexus foundation is complete
So it begins
A mega world that out performs single uploaded worlds.
A mega world where anyone with a blender plugin can build their own locations.
A mega world that redefines world creation not only in #VRChat but #BasisVR as well.
A mega world with an extensive list of arcade game cabinets, pinball and more.
A mega world that can scale no performance cost.
A mega world with proper apartments / private residencies where friends can spawn with you and share home points.
The mega world is back and not only does it address every major criticism, it redefines the genre in a way that is impossible to ignore.
VRU nexus makes extensive use of Light volumes and Vertex lighting making it visually impressive without a large memory footprint. Worlds built entirely in blender can be loaded externally or baked into the world upload. Everything is customizable, all of it. The entire world can be built without ever touching unity.
I will be reaching out to community owners and begin migrating everyone over to this new world soon. This week I need to focus on commission work and make sure business partners have everything they need. But I want to begin running the initial test events as soon Next week, maybe even sooner.
Oct 17 at 8pm pst we have a 5 HOUR open genre event, all for a great cause!
Let's come together to support Stun's journey to better health!
Huge thanks to our amazing DJs for help us out, it means alot!
Every share, donation & bit of love counts!
