For any honest govt officer, at senior levels, there is an issue.

The salary is comparatively very low, but they get excellent perks, a bungalow at a posh location, car, driver etc, which makes them accustomed to a certain lifestyle.

But when they are about to retire and set to lose all perks including the house, and they have to buy their own house to shift, the low income bites them back. With all the “रूतबा” they suddenly have settle for a pigeon coop like flat, someone who used to sip tea in their lawn.

It’s a crisis for the honest.
