@Emport3d@Mokinbeard Why assume Psyonix would prefer an open-source version that anyone can host and redistribute? Removing monetization might address one concern, but making the project easier to spread could create another.
Let’s talk numbers.
https://t.co/93rYqxLujE had 261,000 visitors in the last two days, with thousands of people (currently) online, playing.
That got me thinking about how to support Car Soccer while keeping it free to play.
So I’m trying something: companies can bid to put their logos around the arena, starting at $5. A public leaderboard determines placement; the higher the bid, the bigger the boards.
> The game stays free for everyone.
And after 1 hour of actual gameplay, accumulated across sessions, you can toggle the ads off if you want.
A small thank-you for spending your time playing something I made!
This is my attempt of bringing a bit of revenue to cover the development and infra costs. But I'm happy to hear suggestions from the players! You feedback is appreciated.
@Mokinbeard It is free for players. Only if a company wants to appear there, they can. I have costs with the infra and the development. What is your suggestion in terms of revenue for that? I'm happy to hear opinions.
You can toggle these off after 1 hour of gameplay! I'm sorry about the ads, but that was the only solid idea I had for bringing in some revenue to cover my costs so far. I'm happy to hear other suggestions. I'm building this as I go, and as you said, it's a hit-and-miss sometimes.
THE FLY CAN NOW PLAY ROCKET LEAGUE!
I'm kidding. I wouldn't make it go through that.
But I did update the UI and assets on https://t.co/jj3FFK3uGx. Hopefully, it still has the same ~feel~ you liked so much.
Let me know if you hit a saiko saiko on it.
