A huge thank you to @AnthonyNolan for my lifetime achievement award for my 13 years as chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Stem Cell Transplantation and Advanced Cellular Therapies (APPG on SCTACT).

🥳We’re thrilled to hear that Exa-cel has been made available to patients with thalassaemia!
Exa-cel, also known as Casgevy, is the first CRISPR therapy to be approved for use by the NHS, and provides a ‘functional cure’ for people unable to have a stem cell transplant.
📣 Today we are speaking with #OneCancerVoice to call on the next government to commit to supporting a long-term cancer strategy to improve cancer outcomes in this country. Patients need a plan.
#GeneralElection
🚨 Exa-cel is a new gene therapy that could offer an effective cure for severe sickle cell. Today @NICEComms announced their draft decision NOT to fund it on the NHS.
We need your help. With @SickleCellUK, we’re asking the sickle cell community to respond https://t.co/ixsdHlBKHE
So pleased that a new treatment for chronic GvHD will be funded for people in England and Wales, bringing policy into line with Scotland. Huge thanks to all all the patients and families who spoke to us about their experiences of GvHD to help us make the case to NICE for funding!
📢 NEWS: Belumosudil has been approved by NICE for chronic GvHD
We’ve been calling for better access to GvHD treatments for a long time, so we’re delighted that a new treatment option will now be available to patients across the UK who have not responded to other therapies.
Thanks to @PutneyFleur for inviting us to join her and other patient groups for a positive meeting with @VotePursglove the Minister for Disabled People, Health and Work this week, to discuss the impact of the cost of living crisis on patients.
Very happy that the Green Book now confirms the JCVI advice from last year to allow stem cell transplant & CAR-T patients from age 18+ access to the Shingrix vaccine to prevent shingles.
We’re really pleased that the @UKHSA Green Book has been updated to confirm that adult stem cell transplant and CAR-T patients should be offered 2 doses of the Shingrix vaccine.
Great to see that Scotland's First Minister @HumzaYousaf is a proud member of the Anthony Nolan stem cell register and his government's support for our efforts to diversify our nation's donors! #FMQs
First Minister @HumzaYousaf congratulates @BillKiddSNP on being awarded Political Supporter of the Year for championing @AnthonyNolan locally and nationally
This #CoL crisis is driving patients into poverty at record levels. Very grateful to @MarkTamiMP for raising this in parliament. There are simple things govt can do:
1. Help with travel costs to/from hosp.
2. Extend Warm Homes Discount
3. Make financial support simpler to access
❗Undergoing a transplant can cause a drastic fall in income and the current crisis means patients are facing colossal costs, risking their very survival.
Thank you @MarkTamiMP for highlighting that urgent support is needed for stem cell patients and their families.

❗ Important debate on the impact of the cost of living crisis on stem cell transplant and CAR-T therapy patients tonight, and what the government can do to support them during this time.
