Pleased to see HM Govt is keeping up momentum on my Clinical Trials Review, including the ‘double-doubling’ ambition.
MHRA is performing much better, moving to a national approach to contracting and costing, and the number of industry-sponsored trials in the UK is growing again.

@CharlieMunger00 Hello @CharlieMunger00 - you've quoted a different James O'Shaughnessy here. I've never said this and I don't work in finance. I assume this is a quote from https://t.co/3X1BdfOw2R. Can you please remove me from this tweet? Thanks.
Newmarket Strategy is hiring a Director to lead our Strategic Govt Affairs practice. We're looking for an ambitious leader who shares our passion for health innovation and has a deep understanding of policy & politics. If that's you please get in touch.

‘Until now, the approach has primarily been to ask for forgiveness, rather than permission. Unless that changes then public scepticism will scupper one of the UK’s most exciting health and economic opportunities.’

Absolutely worthy of the praise. Hoping to meet some of the NHS researchers delivering GM's oustanding performance while I'm in town for #NHSConfedExpo
I'm sorry to hear about your patient @DrEmmaSearle. This is the human cost of the UK's underperformance in clinical trials & underlines the urgent need to fix the system and dramatically increase the number of trials available in the NHS https://t.co/KS61lRFAak
I love my job but today was hard: telling a patient who will die of his cancer that I can’t offer a promising clinical trial because an amendment has been stuck with the MHRA since March. This is not good enough and I wonder if my MP would like to come to my clinic and explain?
@MartinLandray@goodtrials Couldn't agree more. As I said to the Life Sciences Council yesterday, the proof of the pudding is in the eating. We need rapid implementation, which Govt has promised, so let's keep up the pressure.
We can be world-leading in clincial trials again, just as we were during the pandemic. That will be good for patients, good for the NHS and good for UK plc.
The overall policy package launched by @Jeremy_Hunt is fantastic. Our country's health and wealth depend on a vibrant life science sector and this will make a big difference. https://t.co/rIPQ1UkQkw
Delighted that @UKGovTweets has accepted my recommendations in full, and provided £121m immediately to fund 5 of the biggest proposals: https://t.co/78NXCj65dL.
My review of UK commercial clinical trials is published today: https://t.co/i1oUlgRb1K. I'm incredibly grateful to the doctors, nurses, researchers, companies, public servants, charities and patients who contributed.
Thank you for your support @jamesosh

The launch of the Dementia Mission and announcement of its excellent chairs could not be better timed. Developing and adopting treatments for dementia is where the UK's health, life science and wider economic/societal interests align.
Dementia is one of the greatest health challenges facing our society & the NHS today — but historically has received less attention, funding & resources than other conditions.
It's time to "turn the tide" on dementia research writes @jamesosh👇 https://t.co/UZEjdojcVw
