We shouldn’t be tying down 18 year olds with tens of thousands of inescapable debt.

I pay in-state tuition at a state school, but I don’t have rich parents. I’m fortunate enough to have a part time job that pays $14/hr and I still have an insane amount of debt.

@piper4missouri As a homeschooled person who grew up associating with a ton of other homeschooled kids, the quality of education varies WILDLY between families. The bigger issue is most parents can’t homeschool their kids, for a variety of reasons. Public schools just need to be better.

All in all, the current global geopolitical situation reveals more than just the ugly heads of certain world powers and factions. It’s another chapter in the story of how people can believe in something so strongly that they lose sight of all other good things.

It’s so easy to see religion as a curse on humanity when you take a step back from it. Religious extremism has been the cause of every major human atrocity in the last 100 years or more that I can think of.

And for some reason I can see people saying “not all religions” like it’s not ALWAYS religion that drives people to throw away their humanity. When you believe that you have exclusive access to ultimate moral authority, you give yourself the power to dehumanize others.
