#WATCH | Delhi: Praveen Kumar, STO at Delhi Fire Services, says, "We received a call at the fire department control room at 12:50 AM reporting a fire in a godown in Gali No. 10. Initially, we dispatched two water tenders, two water bowsers, and one BFT (Big Fire Tender). Subsequently, our ADO, Paras, and Nitin were also sent to the site. Paras assessed the situation and realized it was a massive godown complex—with another large godown adjacent to it. To prevent the fire from spreading, the incident was upgraded to a 'Category 6' fire. While our team was working here, we received another call regarding a fire in a godown in Gali No. 14 (nearby). ST Giriraj was dispatched there with two water bowsers; he successfully doused that fire and has since returned to this site to continue operations here... It is reported to be a factory dealing with foil and plastic rolls. The material melted while burning, and now that we have carried out cooling operations, it has solidified—becoming hard, much like rigid plastic..."

Delhi: A house collapsed at Tilak Chowk, Malka Ganj, Sabzi Mandi area. A total of four women, one child, and one dog were rescued. The rescued persons include Mansi (45), Anjali (24), Payal (21), Niru (5 months), and Kavita (40, who is physically challenged)

#WATCH | Delhi | Divisional Fire Officer Rajinder Atwal says, “The ambient temperature in Delhi is around 45 degrees, which is extremely high. With the onset of summer, the electrical load rises because people run cooling equipment. As the heat intensifies, the duration of usage increases as well… Naturally, if a machine runs continuously, its moving parts will heat up… This applies to everything, from home air conditioners to commercial setups with ovens or large freezers. The underlying issue is often carelessness… While maintaining 24-hour cooling in hospitals is a necessity, we must also prioritise maintenance, such as regular AC servicing and electrical audits. A common scenario is installing an AC using existing wiring that wasn't originally designed for such a load, and then adding even more appliances later, thereby further increasing the electrical strain… In many common residential areas, a critical issue that arises during a fire is that emergency vehicles cannot reach the site because there is no dedicated parking space, forcing residents to park on the street… There have been many instances where fires started due to short circuits in electric meter boards or while charging vehicles on the stilt floor; sometimes, the water pump motors installed there also short-circuit, potentially igniting a fire during the night…”

As a part of awareness campaign during Fire Service Week 2026, Fire Safety Management Academy, Rohini hosted a painting competition on "Safe School, Safe Hospital & Fire Safety Aware Society." Total 29 students from 08 different schools took part in the competition with great passion & excitement and expressed their intent and feelings through their beautiful paintings.
