The Opal token is moving to @base

When we launched Opal, we deliberately chose Ethereum mainnet. We wanted to see which ecosystem would truly support our long-term vision before committing.

The answer became obvious.

Base is the fastest-growing L2 and extremely performant. On the token side, it has significantly more volume and attention than ETH mainnet. But most importantly for us, it offers its builders by far the best support.

Over the past 7 months, the Base team has been instrumental in helping us bring the first house-blind privacy perpetual DEX to market. From ecosystem support to the ventures team, they’ve consistently gone above and beyond. Going through two Base Batches cohorts was a game changer, and we’d encourage every serious builder to apply to the next one.

Huge thank you to the team at base @jessepollak @davidtsocy @BronheimDaniel @RyanGittleson and @ZacPrater for all your help and support thus far.

This is a move our community has been asking for for months, and we’re excited to finally make it happen.

Existing holders will be migrated 1:1. Team
tokens will remain fully locked and all liquidity will also be moved 1:1. For now, OPAL will continue trading on ETH mainnet as usual and we’ll announce a launch date and more details soon.

On the product side, we're happy to share that production testing is going well so far, and another batch of invites is going out today.

I recently spent some time looking into @opal_dex, and I have to say, it’s a project that’s really caught my attention

For anyone hearing about it for the first time, @opal_dex is a privacy first decentralized perpetual futures exchange. It lets you trade with leverage on crypto and even tokenized real world assets like gold, oil, and stocks. So instead of only trading cryptocurrencies, you can also speculate on traditional assets, all from one platform

One thing I really like is that it’s completely non custodial. Your funds stay in your own wallet, so you’re always in control instead of handing them over to a centralized exchange

The project is built on @base, and if you’ve been following the Base ecosystem, you already know it’s home to a lot of strong builders. I think Opal is definitely one of the projects worth watching there

What really makes @opal_dex different is its focus on privacy

On many trading platforms, people can track wallet activity and see things like position sizes or trading behavior. Opal is designed to keep that information private, so your trades stay your business

At the same time, they haven’t ignored security. The platform is backed by audits and cryptographic proofs that anyone can verify, giving users more confidence while they trade

Another feature I found interesting is that you’re not limited to crypto markets. You can also trade tokenized real world assets, which opens up a lot more opportunities for traders who want exposure to different markets

The token also has a pretty interesting utility. If you hold $OPAL, you receive a share of the trading fees generated by the platform. According to the project, 100% of those fees are distributed back to token holders in ETH, which is a nice incentive for longterm holders

It’s also worth mentioning that @opal_dex has attracted support from some well known names in the crypto space, including the co founder of Coinbase, along with several other respected legends. Seeing that level of backing definitely adds to my confidence in what they’re building

And there’s more good news @opal_dex has officially launched Production V1. The first batch of invites is already out, and more users will be invited every week

Overall, I think @opal_dex is building something genuinely interesting. They’re combining privacy, decentralized trading, real world assets, and strong incentives for token holders in one platform. I’ll definitely be keeping an eye on how the project grows from here
