We nominate one HNF1A target, FXYD2, as the primary mitigator for this phenomenon. We believe HNF1A-FXYD2 is a promising pathway that connects β-cell heterogeneity to diabetes progression.
It has been more than 4 years since we started this project. Another great collaboration with the laboratory of @FulaiJin . All three first authors (@chenweng1991@axg826 , and Shanshan Zhang) are proudly graduated with PhD now.

We validated many HNF1A target genes with Cut&Run; they show the same intra-donor heterogeneity at RNA and protein levels. Interestingly, HNF1A activity is significantly associated with lower Na+ currents based on a published PATCH-seq data in islets https://t.co/GT2Rb6HFzE
Our paper is finally online at Nature Genetics. Our goal is to democratize the kb-resolution Hi-C analyses. DeepLoop works very well with sparse 6-cutter, 4-cutter, single cell, or allele-resolved Hi-C data. Let others know if it works for you and let us know if not.
Out today! Insights into islet cell type- and state-specific gene regulatory programs from genetics, single cell-resolved islet chromatin maps, hESC-beta cell models. Monumental team effort together with @kjgaulton@CEpigenomics spearheaded by @JoshChiou

Please join us for our DRC Seminar Series this week with Dr. Barak Blum, PhD on Friday, Feb 26 at 12 PM MT. All are welcome. Please register to attend https://t.co/2MXnUmIDrC. @BlumLabWisc
Excited to share our work in @eLife in which we identify #T2D genetic risk genes affecting pancreatic development. Epigenomics, genetic association studies, hESC and zebrafish models. Great teamwork with @kjgaulton, Duc Dong, Bing Ren, support by T2D-AMP!

Congratulation to Chen Weng @chenweng1991 for successful defense of his PhD thesis! Chen is my first graduate student co-advised by @yan_yan_li. He already published two first-author papers in Cell Reports and Nature Metabolism. He will move to a postdoc position in Whitehead.
Our work with Fei Chen's lab describing large sensitivity improvements to Slide-seq is now out in NBT.
We now see Slide-seq as well-powered to perform large-scale cell type localization, spatial screens, and pathological analysis.

A work we began when I started my lab. Great collaboration with @FulaiJin. Congrats to student Chen Weng and Postdoc Jiajia Xi!
