RIP RJ Mitte
RJ Mitte has died at 34 years old. The actor's heartbreaking performance as Walt Jr. in #BreakingBad "was a breakthrough for disability representation," writes @DPD_.
"'Breaking Bad' allowed Mitte to burrow into Walt Jr. over the long term and by the time of his final confrontation with his father, Walt Jr.’s (and Mitte’s) cerebral palsy had become something other than noteworthy. It was a fact about both young men that the viewer noticed but that didn’t define either. Mitte's character was loyal, or thwarted, or heartsick — or, it ought to be said, tall and strikingly handsome — before he was ever anyone’s idea of an object of pity... This was the power of what is still rare now and was rarer in 2008, when 'Breaking Bad' began: Hiring an actor with a disability to portray that disability."
