We'll present "Query-Based Adaptive Aggregation for Multi-Dataset Joint Training Toward Universal Visual Place Recognition" at #ICRA2026 in the poster session on Tuesday afternoon, Hall C 210, and Workshop Robots Meet Prior Maps (https://t.co/5pu42XNTUn)!
QAA uses learned queries as an extensive reference codebook to boost model capacity — replacing complex score-based aggregation with a single matrix multiply for universal VPR with multi-dataset training.
To wrap up my series on UAV Thermal Geo-localization, I created an open-source collection of models and datasets. The demo video below shows the real trajectory data results running with our models:

there are some small experimental uni in China like @ShanghaiTechUni attracts out-of-distribution sci/engineering kids and delivers out-of-distribution results.
Interesting. It appears like Chinese engineering schools are on an extremely sharp/peaky quality curve. If you don’t get into Tshinghua, Peking, SJTU, you are better off going to the US, where quality schools are better distributed even away from the mode.
Our RA-L paper, in collaboration with Prof. Loianno’s @loiannog group, was selected as an Editors’ Choice in Science Robotics:

A step forward for Embodied Intelligence in quadrotors: how physical design and control can work to enhance resilience/safety.
If you use ROS 2 and use RVL encoded compressedDepth image, I published a new plugin as a schema convertor for foxglove visualization!
You can install it on Extensions in Foxglove directly.

Really enjoyed this deep dive into safe_c.h from a Rust fan:
1. use cleanup attributes to bolt C++/Rust-style RAII onto C
2. layer on Unique/Shared-style pointers, vectors
3. Result-ish errors, contracts, and RAII mutex guards to ship a leak-free grep

I’m thrilled to share that I’ll be speaking at #RustConf 2025! I will share my thoughts on Rust for Robotics!
Stay tuned for RustConf registration+schedule release. Hope to see you there IRL in Seattle or online from Sept 2-5. 🎉

Hit us up if you want to connect outside of the workshop!
Racism is not acceptable in the academia.
I want to provide some fact:
In my undergrad, we treat academic integrity seriously.
1. One plagiarism fail your course
2. Two plagiarisms in one course leave a permanent record
3. Three plagiarisms? You are kicked out of the undergrad
Mitigating racial bias from LLMs is a lot easier than removing it from humans!
Can’t believe this happened at the best AI conference @NeurIPSConf
We have ethical reviews for authors, but missed it for invited speakers? 😡
