🔹 The #PCA & the Second Hague Peace Conference 🔹
🏛️ Yesterday marked the 119th anniversary of the opening of the Second #HaguePeaceConference, one of the first statements of the rules of #internationalarbitration between States & the second Founding Convention of the @PCA_CPA.
⚖ Held in 1907, the Second Hague Peace Conference established both the 𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗲 & the 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 when the countries of Latin America all joined the #PCA, paving the way for a more just and peaceful, but also inclusive, world 🌎.

This is how childhood should be spent.
Yet, nearly 138 million children are trapped in child labour — with over 60% occurring in agriculture.
On Friday's #EndChildLabour Day, @FAO is calling for urgent action to end this harmful practice.
Nearly 20 years after the adoption of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, many countries have advanced laws on education, employment and political participation. At the opening of COSP19, the work now is to turn legal recognition into lived reality, including through support systems, accessibility and participation from the beginning. This reflects the principle that persons with disabilities must be meaningfully involved in decisions that affect their lives.
May is #MentalHealthMonth.
1️⃣ in 7️⃣ young people faces mental health issues, yet signs are often missed.
Parents, carers & teachers can help spot when a child needs support.

On the sidelines of the 2nd International Migration Review Forum, I met with the IOM Director General to underscore Forum’s vital role not only in strengthening migration governance but also in rebuilding trust in multilateralism
Migration is not the crisis.
The crisis is the world’s collective failure to manage migration together.
We need cooperation across borders, governments & societies to show how multilateral cooperation delivers in the lives of migrants & the societies they strengthen.
At the Informal Interactive Multi-Stakeholder Hearing ahead of the 2nd International Migration Review Forum, I stressed a simple truth: migration is part of the human story. With more than 304 million international migrants worldwide, migration governance cannot be discussed only in technical terms - it must remain grounded in people and in the experience of those working closest to the realities migrants face every day. Stakeholders represent the lives of people on the ground and help assess progress, identify gaps, and highlight continuing challenges.
Work can support health and well-being—or put people at risk.
On Tuesday’s World Day for Safety and Health at Work, @ilo stresses healthier workplaces can benefit workers & organizations, and strengthen productivity & economic resilience.

#SafeDay
As we mark Freedom Day, we honour the significance of 1994, the sacrifices made, and the hard-won right to live in a democratic South Africa, 32 years into our democracy.
We also know that there is no freedom without dignity, and that it must be felt in people’s everyday lives.
Madiba’s words call on us to continue the work of building a society where both freedom and dignity are a reality for all.

Education is a human right.
Since 2015, 110 million more children and youth are in school, with completion rates rising—especially for girls.
The #GlobalGoals aim to ensure all boys and girls can access a high-quality education.

🕊️ Peace #ForAllWomenAndGirls requires strong multilateral cooperation.
For decades, it has driven gender equality. Today, it is under strain.
This International Day of Multilateralism and Diplomacy for Peace, we reaffirm women as a driving force for #peace and multilateralism.
The International Day of Multilateralism and Diplomacy for Peace reminds us: trust is not optional. It is the foundation for constructive cooperation, effective multilateral action, and lasting peace.
The race for the next UN Secretary-General is on.
Who will lead from 2027? And will the UN finally appoint its first woman chief?

Many countries are trapped in cycles of unresolved debt crises & held back by an unfair system of vast debt repayments that drain public resources & undermine long-term investment.
The Borrowers Platform – a new mechanism supported by the @UN – is a breakthrough in global financing – bringing borrowing countries together learn from each other & speak with a collective voice.
