@teortaxesTex In the alternative path who is going to build Stargate? Who is going to build Starmind? We absolutely can't slow down or stop here. Maybe I just don't understand the third path being proposed?
This figure from the Mythos system card is a very interesting ablation on the reported SWE-bench scores with regards to memorization. They increasingly filter for task instances where the LM solution is dissimilar to the human gold solution and recalculate the scores. 🧵
@difficultyang I think the issue here is signaling you are good at the job is kind of dead when others can also prompt Claude code to produce the same exact side project you just did
@badlogicgames I’m curious why labs just can’t train on the planning sessions that users have in CC and codex for improving architecture and design decisions?
It's funny how modern economics convinced everyone that economic development and growth is not necessarily something that you can see and observe in physical reality, so pointing this out is now a contrarian position.
@hypersoren What about companies that have very small or non existent technical teams? Are pharma companies gonna be staffing up on engs to keep this stuff in house?
Maybe this is tautological but I think most of our problems with technology are actually problems with our culture and it’s just easier to lash out at technology, with its corporate profiteers, and demand the law do the work instead of the harder task of cultural change
Why so many of us feel career-homeless in tech:
>Startups full of fraud, grifters and short-term thinking
>FAANG full of politics and slightly behind
>Frontier labs in a race with no morals
>Academia full of title collectors
>Content creation ridden by AI fakes and sensationalism
Who is starting the renaissance and how do I get in touch with them?
@juliarturc This is what happens when everyone says they are moving 100x faster and everyone else will be left behind. It’s a general anxiety in the air so people are willing to drop their morals. I’m not sure if things will ever get better to be honest
@gregwedow@headinthebox The crux is if you think progress comes from average ppl just making lots of iterations OR if you believe progress comes from outsized impact from particular individuals. I tend to believe the latter.
@heymynameisrob@thenanyu@Flynnjamm Shhh let him keep thinking they’ll get infinite margins with slop that’s not defensible from the other thousand guys with the same idea
the infra we have right now is barely enough for today's ai inference demand
the options are demand goes up, stays flat, or goes down
everyone seems to be certain that building out more capacity is "bubble fomo behavior"
they're that certain demand is going down?
