I think it's deeper than this, 1 to 1 rewrite is a lot simpler than figuring out how to change fundemental parts
TS 6 and TS 7 compilers are different esp. with parallel & incremental compilation
But I'd assume TS 7 go and tsrs are similar (if not identical in how they work)
I built a Command & Conquer style RTS called Battle Drones, mainly using Claude Opus 5.5, which runs in the browser and includes device-to-device multiplayer over an audio link https://t.co/OUGfRDk7DU
Cloudflare is taking ownership of tsrs, a port of TypeScript to Rust. It's 8x faster and uses 70% less memory than TypeScript 7.0.
We are not forking TypeScript โ we are working with the TypeScript team and as a result 7.1 is already ~2.5x faster, too.

Just switched to the new X unified account system.
Before:
$30/month SuperGrok
$20/month Cursor Pro
Now:
$30/month all of them. I'll monitor usage, including reply boost here, and see if it's actually an upgrade. So far, it seems like it is.
This isn't your typical acquisition blog post. I'm really excited not just that @rough__sea, @piscisaureus, and friends are joining, but also what they plan to work on: Making workerd a first-class, self-hostable open source runtime. Read for more:

It's uncontroversial that frontier models can rewrite TypeScript in another language.
But could a frontier model _design_ TypeScript?
Not just the idea of it, but all the details that made it great. How do we get to that same level of discovery and judgement?
