The restrictions imposed on @BeerBicepsGuy by a Supreme Court bench led by Justice Surya Kant are deeply, deeply concerning. While the bench stayed his arrest and prohibited any further FIRs, it also directed him to cooperate with the investigation whenever summoned by the police and to surrender his passport. This, in itself, leaves him vulnerable to harassment.

While such conditions may be considered “normal” by today’s standards, Justice Kant’s order also bars him from conducting “any other shows for the time being.” How does a court of law justify this restriction, which amounts to nothing more than a moral injunction imposed on an individual? Can Supreme Court judges sit in moral judgement and impose their worldview on others? If it’s “okay” in this case, then what precedent does this set for future cases?

Not to mention Justice Kant’s morality lecture—typical characteristic of an institution that sees itself as the mai-baap of everything. Equally troubling is the Court’s insistence that the government must act on OTT regulation, alongside its apparent inclination to oversee that it happens.
