It is a measure of @sachin_rt's accomplishments that it is only now that he has more years behind him than test centuries. What an era to be a cricket watcher! Just a lovely, special person. #HappyBirthdaySachin.
Ramu Damodaran posted this anecdote about Dr. Manmohan Singh in a St. Stephen’s College Alumni Whatsapp Group. With Ramu’s permission I am posting it here
“My first meeting with Dr MMS was in July ‘91, the day I joined Prime Minister Narasimha Rao’s office. The devaluations of the rupee had taken place a few days earlier.
He came to the PM’s Race Course Road office and walked straight into his room from the car. On the way out he detoured to come to my room. He had a small envelope in his hand which he gave me saying “please make sure this is credited to PM’s Relief Fund.”
I opened the envelope after he left to find a cheque for a huge amount I cannot now precisely remember . With it a note saying “Representing the difference in rupee value of my assets abroad consequent upon devaluation.””
There are huge lessons in this story for all founders, start ups, investors, managers, business leaders and others around integrity, probity, good governance, resolving conflict of interest, not profiting from inside information etc. etc.
Thank you Dr. Manmohan Singh.
Thank you Ramu_Damodaran for this story.

I think MI is too strong and resilient a team not to recover from this, they have seen worse & qualified in the past.
My only submission is that no one has the right to control the sentiments of the fans, or tell them to stop booing and behave. If all the fandom and applause is accepted in good times, you have to accept the downside as well. Fame is not a one way street, and the only way to get back in their good books is to quietly keep playing and start winning.

A LinkedIn post from a person named Sumeet has been sent to me multiple times. I have also been tagged on this post many times. I think it's important for me to share my concerns here as well, because it's the right thing to do and unfortunately I am the only person who has been very vocal about this and will probably be the only one still.
In the post, Sumeet tells the real life incident involving his father. An otherwise healthy man, he took a herbal dietary supplement at the advise of one Dr. Gupta who is probably a franchisee of the Sky Herbal Life Company.
He was given two products - Sky Herbal Life Fat Burner and Sky Herbal Life Keto - both marketed for weight loss.
Sumeet's father took these products as advised for just 4 days. From the 5th day onwards, he started to lose appetite and on the 10th day after start of symptoms, he was dead. Just gone. Imagine. A much loved healthy senior person will be missing from the life of everyone in that family. Imagine the void. In fact, it's terrifyingly unimaginable.
That said, I am sorry to say that this was not surprising. See the products Sumeet's father took. Read the ingredients. Two of them stand out. Both are WELL DOCUMENTED and both in fact have WARNINGS from the medical science community as well as health regulatory bodies from scientifically progressive societies, as severe liver toxic agents that can lead to the fatal condition the man suffered from - Acute Liver Failure.
Green tea extracts (not green tea) and Garcinia cambogia (malabar tamarind) are highly liver toxic compounds that can injure the liver so badly that they can kill. The person dies of multiple organ failure. This man was on two products that contained both. It's criminal. He was murdered by that "Dr. Gupta" who sold these products to him.
Studies have shown that epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) in green tea extracts and hydroxycitric acid in Garcinia are toxic compounds in isolation, and worse when they are together - like seen in this product.
Please see here. This has been known since decades. Why are our people not aware of this? Why is the health regulatory body not telling the public this, or putting up warnings or banning these shitty products off the shelf?

These products do not help you lose weight. They are in fact common causes for severe liver injury and liver failure. And no doctor will tell you this because they fear the industry and are happy with a 9 to 5 clinical job. I have no fear. And I don't have anything to sell, other than these warnings. Please heed. Some doctors may even try to sell this death to you. Beware of such practitioners who prescribe/promote herbal supplements.
How many more avoidable deaths would you want to witness, to understand that herbal and dietary supplements industry is dangerous sham and it serves no real benefits for health or clinical well being.
Sky Herbal Life needs to be sued, taken taken court and made to pay. Dr. Gupta must be in jail...
...in a better world. Not current India.
Reject herbal supplements.
You'll be richer by it.
Money-wise and lives.
India won 27 and just lost 7 of the 35 ODI matches it played in 2023, a winning % of almost 80, the closest top nation being SA with 64%. And yet, we will look back with disappointment.
Me: Can you draw a very normal image?
ChatGPT: Here is a very normal image depicting a tranquil suburban street scene during the daytime.
Me: Not bad, but can you go more normal than that?

As the boys in blue gear up for the semi-final, here's my two cents on handling pressure - though not that they need any lessons on pressure, given their amazing performances so far.
Remember, the present moment is like a perfect shot - it's all you've got. Stay in it. Your routine is your ritual -
it's what turns pressure into performance. Stick to it, but don’t be afraid to throw in a googly and adapt when the situation demands.
Crisis? That's just another word for 'I'm about to make history'. So when the going gets tough, the tough don’t just get going, they dig deep and build a skyscraper right there.
Lastly, pressure is like your shadow in the afternoon sun - it might look big, but it's not heavier than a cricket ball. Don't run from it. Embrace it, high-five it, and you'll learn to dance with it on the pitch.
So go ahead, knock it out of the park, but remember, if you find yourself in a sticky wicket, there's nothing that a deep breath and a calm head can't fix.
#StayPresent #DigDeep #EmbraceThePressure
Congratulations to India for landing Chandrayaan-3 on the Moon — joining Russia, USA, & China as the only countries to have achieved this feat. More importantly, it’s the first mission of any country to arrive near the Lunar South Pole - a possible location for future Moon bases.
There were a series of KKR trials to unearth new talent just after season 1. In Mumbai, Saurabh Netravalkar was the stand-out prospect. And then we heard he'd left for Cornell to pursue his software career. Delighted to see him blossom in cricket as well in the last few years!
Chandrayaan-3, India’s third lunar exploration mission takes off from Sriharikota,Andhra Pradesh.
🚀LVM3 Launch Vehicle Mk III takes the Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft to Geo Transfer Orbit (GTO).
#Chandrayaan3 consists of an indigenous propulsion module, lander module, and a rover with an objective of developing and demonstrating new technologies required for inter-planetary missions. The propulsion module will carry the lander and rover from injection orbit to till 100 km lunar orbit. It also carries a Spectro-polarimetry of Habitable Planetary Earth (SHAPE) payload to study the spectral and polarimetric measurements of earth from the lunar orbit.
@ISRO is bringing the Moon closer to us !
