Amnesty International is urging immediate action to free Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, a pediatrician and director of Kamal Adwan Hospital in Gaza, who was detained last December during an Israeli raid on his hospital that targeted staff and patients.

A key advocate for Gaza’s struggling healthcare system, Dr. Abu Safiya was seized while caring for children. Although his name appears on the list of detainees approved for release under the recent ceasefire deal, he remains in Israeli prisons.
