Left - you can stand against what’s happening in Gaza without supporting artists using their platform to spread hate

Right - truly believing in free speech means allowing words you disagree with (inc both Vylan AND Lucy Connell)

@JFCrisp Can you prove who you are, have verifiably clean record of major criminality, reasonably assured of no links to terror networks? Was asylum claim all true+rejected only on grounds of not qualifying? Only if yes to all then no detention while undergoing the deportation process

@JFCrisp also b/c people working for humanitarian orgs naturally support human rights, ends up being a blindness to how things might cascade into use down the line by those who don’t. E.g. biometric data is great for aid orgs, not so great when a gov then demands total access/ownership

@JFCrisp If funding was bountiful, would say have at it but it’s not & it IS a zero-sum game. Not too often you see a UN agency ‘innovation’ team’s research providing practicable solutions. Its driven by what’s shiny in the tech world rather than what’s pressing in the real world

Irony is the EU has a programme to return asylum seekers to the member state where asylum was 1st claimed, but that is no longer available to the UK post-Brexit

@CelticOracle1 @UKIP That’s not true. No obligation anywhere about a ‘1st safe country’. Irony is the only thing that comes close is EU law allowing asylum-seekers to be returned to the 1st safe country they entered in the EU. But that has gone on the ‘bonfire’ of EU regulations so no longer applies

Agree about Schumacher’s titles, would definitely have been interesting to see how he would have fared against better competition. Not his or Hamilton’s fault, but it does mean you can’t really make direct comparisons based on WDCs alone
