Back to the original post about Somalia specifically, the UN were there to feed people. Several UN workers were killed. America came in with a noble cause with this issue. Def calling BS. $7.25 an hour would have been considered a good wage at the time, if that was his first job he was very lucky. People lived with way less back then. Unemployment was high, the ability to borrow was limited because of interest rates.

Not discounting GZ struggles, but theirs were just as hard if not worse than yours. Y2K, the dot com bubble, Great Recession and the thought years that followed.
