I went to a clinic to get the #COVIDVaccine today. After the visit, I checked my medical records and noticed that it was documented as a flu shot. Returned to the clinic to confirm that I received the right shot. They reassured me that was indeed the case and corrected my recs.

When I was a 3rd year medical student, a wise intern on my pediatric rotation corrected a fellow student for using the phrases:

"asthmatic"
"diabetic"
"sickler"

when referring to patients while we were rounding.

He was very passionate about teaching us the right way.

Once I realized that rejections in academic research often have zero relation to the quality of my work/ideas, the deluge of No's got easier to manage. But WOW you have to believe in yourself to an absurd degree (or surround yourself with people who do) to make this path work

What doesn’t get talked about enough is the emotional weathering that happens after these events for Black employees in predominantly White spaces.

Half of coworkers won’t even know what happened. Privilege allows for that bc it doesn’t impact them. Other half won’t mention it.

Since the Supreme Court is in the spirit of reversing time through policy, taking us back and backwards, can't help but think of this old cartoon today. Money talks and privilege walks. In the case of admissions, it saunters into dorms. This court just made it even easier.
