@VtranCommClass While I agree, I also think that there are a lot of girls (rather than women) who try to fit into society by following these social norms that are advertised everywhere, especially social media. #comm106
@VtranCommClass Interesting question. Could it be that it's considered "breaking news" because the news reporters are told to report it as such? Are we in charge of deciding what is breaking news or is it just forced upon us? #comm106
@annacbrookscomm I think that a lot of people can end up believing something that's not true but I don't think that there will ever be a point in time where fake news will cause everyone to worry. #comm106
The difference between FDR and the way he communicated with his audience and the way Trump communicates clearly shows the contrasting abilities of each president to reassure his citizens. #comm106
I think the Schwartz reading definitely relates to the modern world of what is really news and what isn't. I definitely think that people will believe anything if it is shared enough. #comm106
We discussed in class how reproduction of works of art and the art of the film challenges our notions of authenticity. I'm wondering if sequels of movies are considered reproductions because sequels are usually not as good as the first movie. #comm106
When talking about watching ads, I feel like the only time people are interested in watching them is during the Superbowl because they are very comical and attract the viewers. #comm106
@_Nonso_M I definitely agree with that. A lot of the movies out now seem to incorporate a lot of action to energize the audience rather than having an actual plot as you said. #comm106
I personally feel that focusing on the conventions of cinema is kind of relevant to girls who used to watch rom-coms and dream about having a love like that. (maybe it was just me) #comm106
So while we all share a sense of unity, what is liking a post going to change? What is sharing a hashtag going to do if events keep repeating themselves? It's equivalent to taking a photograph and not intervening. #comm106
As some people have stated, the internet did create some sort of connection with different people in different communities, but when it comes to an event that affects everyone, simply liking a post to show your support isn't doing anything. #comm106
@erinnurbaniak@timr100 I agree with the fact that Twitter consists more of breaking news. In my opinion, maybe with twitter, it's easier to like something and retweet it and have it spread but rather with facebook, your posts are limited to who you allow to view it. #comm106
@CommSean @FellyTheCommGuy Although VSCO doesn't have the generic "like" button, it does have a "favorite" button in which it takes the role of a "like" button. But, VSCO does give people a lot more freedom in what they can post and how much they can post. #comm106
@AulicinoSophia It's crazy how it's not even men pressuring women to live up to this standard but women with all their posts making other women think they need to look a certain way. #comm106
I agree with @gloribeldifo completely. In my personal opinion, I believe that in the end, while men judge women, women judge women a lot more. #comm106
I completely agree that writing can live on far beyond the situation of utterance. I personally would rather be able to read something personal over and over than only be able to hear it once. #comm106
I agree that words overheard by others relinquishes control over the confidentiality and personal destination but it also has no meaning to the people that overhear those words. #comm106
I donโt agree with Socrates when he states that writing diminishes memory cause I personally remember things a lot easier if I write them down #comm106
Itโs interesting to see that Habermas thinks that communication is not the sharing of consciousness but Peters discusses that comm is hearing the otherโs otherness. #comm106
