In Wolf of Wall Street, Jon Bernthal says he improvised “Ma, we got chicken or what?”
“It was never even supposed to be my mother’s house. They just wired us for sound just in case.”
“Again, even though there was no lines written in the scene, it was supposed to be something we were gonna shoot in five minutes.
“It was just supposed to be a shot of me working out.”
“We worked out this whole relationship and, you know, yelling to the mother in the house.”
“And I remember the next day… Marty walked in… and he said to me, ‘Man, I saw what you did yesterday. It was great, it was great.’
The 64-year-old man who lives in Peter Parker's house in real life keeps receiving letters from kids addressed to Spider-Man 🕸️
He didn’t know the house’s connection to the comics when he bought it, but says: “if I am living here, I should do as Spider-Man … If someone wants to take a picture, I say yes”

Anya Taylor-Joy couldn’t cry for a scene in Split.
M. Night Shyamalan told her:
“Don’t cry your own tears. Cry the character’s tears.”
That changed everything.
“It completely opened a whole other universe for me in terms of character work.”
“If I was consistently tapping into events of my own life, I feel like that well would run dry at some point, or start to feel stale or unspecific.
“If I empathize enough with the person I’m playing, they walk differently, talk differently, cry differently, sleep differently, wake differently.”
“That’s just so much more rewarding for me.”
One of the sweetest moments in HOOK (1991) was completely genuine.
Steven Spielberg & Robin Williams never told the Lost Boys who Peter Pan would choose as his successor. When the sword was handed to Thud Butt, the surprise on every kid’s face was real.

Jean’s grief explains why she spiraled. It doesn’t excuse what she did. The story never says the innocent people she hurt suddenly don’t matter because she’s grieving. It asks whether someone can be held accountable while also being understood.
As for Peter, restraint isn’t weakness. He spends the entire film trying to save Jean instead of simply defeating her because that’s who Spider-Man is. Anyone can stop a villain. Peter’s greatest strength has always been believing someone is worth saving even after they’ve fallen.
James Horner was originally offered to score The Lord of the Rings but turned it down due to personal circumstances. The job went to Howard Shore, whose appointment surprised many because he was best known for darker thrillers like Se7en and The Silence of the Lambs, movies with amazing scores but nothing close to this scale.
A year later both composers were nominated for the Oscar. Shore won for The Fellowship of the Ring, and for many film OSTs had a new standard to reach. The overall score is so good that Howard managed to make 9 blokes and a pony walking past a rock one of the most memorable scenes in the film.
SCOOBY-DOO (2002) originally opened with a fully animated sequence that was ultimately cut for length.
It remains one of the strangest deleted openings from a major blockbuster.
On this day in 1953, Tolkien wrote letter 138 to his son Christopher outlining his anger towards his publishers. The printers working on The Fellowship of the Ring decided to “correct” Tolkien’s language.
They had altered:
- dwarves to dwarfs
- elvish to elfish
- further to farther
- elven to elfin (The most egregious in Tolkiens eyes)
When challenged, they said they had followed the dictionary.
Tolkien had worked on the Oxford English Dictionary and knew exactly why he had chosen those words.
He sent a furious complaint to Allen & Unwin. The publisher apologised, and the changes were reversed.
The story has an interesting ending. Tolkien’s invented plural “dwarves” became so influential that it found its way into major dictionaries alongside the traditional “dwarfs.”
Another win for the Professor
Kevin Feige says there are plans for ‘SPIDER-MAN 5’ but Tom Holland & Zendaya will rest first.
“There's always plans.. Tom & Zendaya are going to take a good & restful victory lap, which they very much deserve.”

Tom Holland says the message that he hopes people take away from watching ‘SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY’.
“You’re never truly alone. Sometimes in life the bravest thing you can do is ask for help.”

Watched “Spider-Man: Brand New Day.” A lonely hero. A lonely Spidey. A lonely Peter Parker. It felt fresh, and I really enjoyed it. Until now, Spider-Man films have generally been grouped into self-contained trilogies. With each new iteration, the cast and creative team changed, allowing the franchise to reinvent itself for a new era. This time, however, while both the cast and the story continue from the previous film, everything has been reset. The film focuses on Peter, once again alone, and the loneliness and inner conflict that come with that. It can be seen both as the beginning of a new series and as a direct continuation of the last one. A very clever structure. In the age of social media and its immense power to amplify every opinion, striking the right balance between what filmmakers want to create and what audiences expect has become incredibly difficult. Genuine, heartfelt filmmaking is becoming increasingly challenging. Because of that, this is a film that puts the “Brand” in “Brand New Day” to the test, as part of a blockbuster franchise that simply cannot afford to fail. 🕷️
