@yeahthatkaite That last option is the more fun option but probably less effective. Thank you for taking the time to give advice! I hadn’t thought about starting something on my own
Need advice. I’m struggling to break through to my HR department of one middle aged white woman on taking real action in light of the BLM movement. Our office is predominantly white. I feel like the only white person in the office to bring up this topic for discussion is me.
I’ll add that she is a justifier and invalidates me. Here’s an example. There are 3 out of about 60 in our office that are POC. When I brought up that our office is mostly white she immediately started spouting off our stats about how we’re “actually very diverse”
Then the thing that settles the debate is when the famous architect in the city steps up and says “I’ll make the most beautiful fire escapes you’ve ever laid your eyes on”
Everyone in city hall stands up and cheers
I’m imagining one side being appalled that anyone would want to tarnish the look of their gorgeous cityscape. The opposing side being like “but like people have to jump out their windows in a fire?”
Am I a monster? I ask myself when I don’t fit into the tin laid out in front of me. Will I hurt and hurt others if I refuse to fit in? I know the pain I feel in the tin. So I step in. That way I can know for sure that only I will hurt. I can handle my pain.
Right?
