This is a #Chinese Y-20. Normally, Y-20s carry cargo, but this one seems to be performing a racetrack pattern only seen in aerial refuelers. This begs the question as to whether or not this is a cargo mission or a refuel mission. Y-20s have the capability now to be refuelers.
This seems to be a 50/50 as to whether or not this is a refuel, or a refueler. All that is confirmed is that this is a Y-20 of some kind performing a pattern consistent with aerial refuels. It could be a YY-20, a converted Y-20, or a Y-20 that is being refueled.
@CeciliaSykala Maybe. Only the agencies know to be honest. Normally for transport, the Chinese just fly the drones to where they want them to go. Either that means a test failed, or there are parts of a new drone coming in from the factories.
Bottom line: After the 10/1 spike, reported PLA pressure cooled but remained uneven. Air activity was intermittent, while maritime presence persisted across the period.

PLA Pressure Brief — 10/3–10/8
Reported PLA pressure declined from last period’s 10/1 spike, but did not fully disappear. Air activity fell sharply from 10/4–10/6 before rebounding on 10/7, while maritime activity remained persistent.
(1/6)
The main feature this period was uneven air activity. Reported aircraft dropped to zero for three straight days, then rebounded on 10/7.
Maritime activity was steadier, with 6–8 PLAN vessels reported daily.
