wondering why it is SO hard to get in touch with @ELALUSA - just want to make sure my friend has a flight home from Israel to Los Angeles in a few weeks and right now that’s not the case 🙄 the only option is WhatsApp chatting and we can’t get a real person on the phone…
The final paragraph of the three liberals' Dobbs dissent:
"With sorrow—for this Court, but more, for the many millions of American women who have today lost a fundamental constitutional protection—we dissent. "
BREAKING: The Supreme Court just overturned Roe v. Wade, ending our constitutional right to abortion. We know you may be feeling a lot of things right now — hurt, anger, confusion. Whatever you feel is OK. We’re here with you — and we’ll never stop fighting for you.
To be clear: Despite what Politico is reporting tonight, Roe has not been overturned and abortion is still legal in the United States. While the draft opinion that Politico shared tonight is not official, the language is upsetting, shocking, and outrageous.
Abortion bans are a violation of religious freedom.
As a Jewish woman and as a future clergy member who will undoubtably be called on to counsel congregants on decisions relating to pregnancy, they are a violation of MY religious freedom.
Packing for an Israel trip that’s been 2 1/2 years in the making but a lifetime in anticipation. And realizing that although I’ve been to Israel multiple times (my brain can’t count right now), I’ve never been during the months of May-July…aka this trip
